Characteristics

Cradoc Golf Club overlooks the outstanding and unspoiled natural beauty of the Brecon Beacons National Park and means that this superb Welsh Golf Club has a stunning backdrop that few golf clubs in Wales can emulate. But the real beauty of what is one of Wales' premier golf club's, is not just the sumptuous scenery, but a magnificent 18 hole parkland golf course that was recognised as one of the finest in the Wales when it was named Wales' Golf Club of the Year in 2005.

Founded in 1967, just a couple of miles from the bustling historic market town of Brecon, this is one of Wales' Golf Club's that certainly isn’t remote. Indeed it is hard to think of anywhere so far from the madding crowd but so accessible from the main population centres of both Wales and Southern England. Just a 45 minute drive takes you to Celtic Manor, the home of the 2010 Ryder Cup, and the club is also very easily accessible to golfers from South Wales, the Midlands, and South West England.

Cradoc Golf Club has a modern clubhouse with a comfortable lounge area and 70 cover restaurant offering freshly cooked food and welcomes all visitors and societies, and those looking for membership. Visiting golfers are offered good rates and the club has competitive packages for society events.

During the last year Cradoc has hosted two major Golf Union of Wales championships and is the permanent home of the prestigious MolsonCoors Welsh "Champion of Champions" tournament and the Club is proud to note that a number of the winners have gone on to become successful tour professionals.

Extremely interesting

The course is undulating, partly hilly, often narrow, usually with a side slope and all the courses are lined with old trees. It has a few water hazards and bunkers mostly around the green, but the main difficulty is the topography.

The course is very varied and exciting to play. It doesn't have a single boring track. Hole 8 will be remembered – to paraphrase Schiller: “He has to go through this narrow alley”. And track 11 is also a real pleasure - down around the corner with an intermediate plateau... classy.

Fairways top, bunkers ok, greens mostly undulating and quite passable, although a bit bumpy...
With a green fee of £30!! but that is acceptable.

The only thing that's really missing are track descriptions. You save money here because 99% of the time only locals play this place.

The fact is: I've already played some expensive so-called championship courses... but some of them can't hold a candle to Cradoc.

19th hole, quite acceptable English pub with menu.

Very solid 4*, with course labels and better greens it would have been 5*. relaxed.

Beautiful scenery and good price

If you want to experience a great lap for a more than fair price, then you are exactly right. With a very nice reception, easy and fast you go. The place holds in addition to interesting paths and good greens, also sensational Ausichten the Brecon Beacons ready. An absolute recommendation, even if the place is not too difficult.
