A marvelous course studded with palm trees on the sunny Atlantic coast of southern Spain. It offers 27 Championship holes with sculpted fairways, studded with stately palm trees, and dotted with lakes and bunkers.
The course is an intriguing layout on level terrain alongside wide Atlantic beaches. Players of any level are tested, but no matter one’s level, everybody will enjoy this superbly designed course and you will remember it fondly for many years. The European PGA Tour recognizes Costa Ballena Ocean Course’s caliber of golf and has used it as one of the European Tour Qualifying School courses since 2005!
Costa Ballena Ocean Golf Course is golf the way it should be as you walk down the palm studded fairways enjoying temperate weather year round.
The extensive practice facilities are amongst the best to be found in Europe. The centerpiece is the huge all grass driving range which allows 120 players to practice at the same time. The greens have slopes and undulations which will allow you to practice any shot imaginable. The gigantic putting green with many levels and slopes will hone your putting. There is also a 9 hole Executive course which you can use to work on your short game to shave off a few strokes.

The Costa Ballena Ocean Golf Course clubhouse design was inspired by the typical cottages that can be found in the nearby Doñana National Park. The restaurant with its amazing views to the Atlantic Ocean from the terrace is full service restaurant renowned for its authentic Andalucian, Spanish, and international food.
Costa Ballena is located just south of Seville & Jerez (home of Sherry wine) so there is plenty of sightseeing to enjoy and Andalusian cuisine and wines to savor when you are not on the golf course. It enjoys an exquisite setting on the expansive beaches of Spain’s southern Atlantic Coast. During your stay in the area after golf, you can discover the many Moorish places in the many nearby historic cities.

The Chantarella Restuarant situated in the clubhouse with its amazing views to the Atlantic Ocean from the terrace is full service restaurant renowned for its authentic Andalucian, Spanish, and international food. Perfect for just snacks or tapas after a round. The Chantarella also offers elegant dining for the most discerning clients.
With a capacity of up to 500 guests using indoor and outdoor facilities, it’s the ideal place for any kind of corporate events and private celebrations.
Opening times during spring and summer: 1-4pm and 8-11pm.
The cafeteria and good value snack bar provides breakfast, combined dishes, tapas and sandwiches.

Flat meadow - boring layout

Apart from the trees, hardly anything changes here. The layout is the same throughout, each hole looks almost identical. The only variation is the change from palm trees to pine trees along the fairways. Nevertheless, the holes are in good condition, as are the greens. A challenge? Not at all. It's always straight ahead.
The course is right by the sea, but you can't see it when you're playing. The naval base is right next to the golf course. When the jet pilots use their training grounds, you get a real "Top Gun" feeling - including thunderous sonic booms.
The much-vaunted practice facility may be large, but the first impression is deceptive: it is equipped with ancient, worn range balls that look more like stones than modern golf balls.
The pro shop is spacious and offers a good selection, while the reception has friendly staff. There is one catch, however: English skills are not spoken here.
The clubhouse has clearly seen better days and looks a bit dated. Unfortunately, the impression was so uninviting that we decided not to eat there.

The place is now completely occupied by Scandinavian groups from February to May and October / November. You struggle through the round when you still have to play the twentieth shot. Restaurant is closed from 6 p.m. The short game practice facilities are occupied by the groups and hundreds of their range balls. Just not here - the place is adapted to the groups and completely without challenges - except when the wind blows.
