Characteristics

Founded in 1912 and designed by W. Herbert Fowler, Cooden Beach Golf Club offers a classic golfing experience on the East Sussex coast. The 18-hole course is defined by its seaside location, where unpredictable winds provide the primary defense. The terrain is relatively flat and easy to walk, featuring springy turf, internal dykes, and ponds that demand accuracy. A highlight is the 9th hole, offering stunning views of the sea and countryside. The club features the refurbished Herbert Fowler Restaurant and on-site dormy accommodation for visitors.

Vistors Beware!!

Visitors Beware!
The first impression wasn't very good, they don't seem to know what they are doing!
Arriving with a 2fore1 voucher for Cooden Beach, the guy in the proshop had no idea what a 2fore1 voucher was (? VERY strange) and still wanted to charge 2x a greefee.
The standard greenfee he said was 55.. however on the Cooden Beach website, the greenfee for visitors shown was only 45. Eventually after having breakfast - (which they also didn't serve exactly what was orderd), the guy in the proshop had, after asking around, eventually accepted that the 2fore1 was valid but still had a problem with the greenfee amount.
The course itself had reasonable maintenance but it was very boring playing.
It wasn't very long and there wasn't really anything memorable at all on the course. Not a very nice scenary and although I've seen it described as a LINKS course there wasn't really anything links about it.
It is called Cooden BEACH... but the beach is a LONG way away.. from one tee you can JUST see the sea in the distance.
I can't really recommend using a day going to play at Cooden.. there are many other more worthy courses in the area to spend a day playing.

Trying to book a group days golf

Be careful if you view this golf clubs web site, they say its £46 a weekend round and when you phone them it goes up to £60! also they want £32 for a buggy which is more expensive than most charge for a round of golf, in todays climate i find it strange that they are willing to turn away 12 green fees with bar and food bills on top. May i say that Eastbourne Downs Golf Club are a few steps ahead of this golf club in catering for our needs, good luck Cooden Beach, i somehow think your going to need it!!!
