Established in 1923 on the grounds of the former Jerviston Estate, the course was significantly shaped by the renowned architect James Braid in 1925, who returned later to add his signature bunkering. The 18-hole parkland layout winds through mature woodlands and undulating terrain, demanding strategic placement rather than sheer power. The back nine is particularly notable, with the closing stretch offering expansive views across the Clyde Valley towards Tinto and Glasgow.
