Colonsay Golf Club

Reputedly dating back to 1775, the Isle of Colonsay Golf Course offers one of the most rugged and natural golfing experiences in the Hebrides. Situated on indigenous machair on the island’s west coast, this 18-hole links course is defined by its untouched surroundings. There are no man-made bunkers here; instead, natural "sheep scrapes" serve as hazards, and the local livestock helps maintain the fairways. Although measuring just 4,752 yards, the layout is deceptively tricky, particularly at the 7th hole, "The Fank," which features a burn, a sheepfold, and an airstrip as obstacles. With magnificent views over sandy bays and a distinct lack of crowds, it provides a peaceful return to golf’s origins.
