Characteristics
This is the second course of the Club zur Vahr. Founded in 1963, it is younger then its "brother" but nevertheless an impressive 18-hole championship course which hosted the German Open a few times. A dense forest lines the narrow fairways and defines the character of this course.

A special place - Parkland Course

This course is something special. All the fairways are lined with mature trees. On most holes, you're completely unaware of the other fairways. You're at one with yourself, the golf, and nature. The course is a par 74 and very long from the yellow tees. This challenging course (carts only permitted for players 65 and older) should be a test for all handicap levels.
Despite the dry summer, the course was in very good condition. Holes 6 and 7 have something special: they split, offering two options for reaching the green.
Always worth a trip.
The day came to a great end on the terrace with a wonderful meal served by the new chef.

One of the best places I've been able to play so far. Great course design, although running through the forest, never boring. Demanding but fair. Very good practice facilities, very well-kept place condition.

We played the course in August 2019 and were thrilled overall.
The course design by Bernhard von Limburger, which was revised a few years ago by Christoph Staedler, is still up-to-date and offers lots of fun on all holes.
Highlights are certainly hole 2, a par 5 dogleg.
From the tee over a hedge and with the second blow either over a pond, or the longer way and the third blow outside.
Hole 6 with a split fairway, which offers the option for the shorter path over a pond with the correct ball position after the first strike or the long way outside on a group of trees.
Hole 7 also offers two ways to play with a shared fairway, and requires a decision from the tee off for either way.
Most holes require precise play because on many holes forest limits the fairways and leaves little room for error.
Registration and clubhouse are separate, which probably was not always so, as green fee players were probably rather rare in founding the club.
The welcome was very nice, as was the service in the restaurant.
A place that is even more fun, even if you are a little concerned with the history and its creation.
