The golf course borders on the coast of Guincho and conveyes one of the greatest impressions of Portugal. Robert Trent Jones Sr. has here created on a flat area, mostly overgrown with stocks of stone pines, a master piece of the Portuguese golf sport. The most spectacular hole is most likely hole 3, par 4, with a length of 334 m, which takes course towards the sea.

A mixed bag

Well, the new clubhouse has been completed. The course itself is a mixed bag. The unusual layout makes it necessary to walk across other holes, sometimes right in front of the tees. But there are some interesting par 3s and par 5s. Flat, easily walkable.
Someone please tell the golf manager that 8-minute start intervals simply do not work so that traffic jams are inevitable. We were often 3 groups on the par 5s or even the par 4s. Very slow round.

Overpriced and overrated

Played the course only because others in the region were nor available. Since my last passage many things have changed and some remain as in the past. Clubhouse? Wrong question, Loks like a temporary shelter, changing room or shower - non existent, respectively apparently at a nearby hotel. Course condition? What is that? Greens were sanded and aeried. One Greenfee (reduced due to the greens) plus electro trolley a proud € 72.00. Not worth another visit rather drive another hour and play in the Obidos region great courses for lower Greenfees! !!

You don't have to

Completely overcrowded. 5-minute tee times mean up to 15 minutes of waiting time at each hole.
The fairways are in poor condition. Lots of rocks, sparse grass (September), and many spots without gas. The course definitely needs an overhaul. It's very dated.
Trend Jones finds the layout very odd, as on the first 9 holes you have to walk across the other players' fairway at least three times to get to the next tee. This means more waiting and is also dangerous. On one hole, you have to hide behind trees because there's nowhere to go. In front of us are the first tee-offs, and behind us are the next duells hitting the green. There were four flights on one hole. This greatly diminishes the fun of the game. We abandoned the 18-hole round after 9 holes.

It feels like every hole looks the same. The exception is the par 3 over the pond. The pond was also practically empty (without water).

The clubhouse is unloved, with a cafeteria feel. You wouldn't want to linger there.

Price over 120€ for the green fee definitely not worth it!!
Plus point: Easy to run with a trolley. Very nice starter.
