Sandy... VERY sandy!

Played in early July 2023, HCP 15

The first impression, which is confirmed again and again as the round progresses: the course consists essentially of bunkers! There are numerous of them and they come in all imaginable sizes and depths. (Probably one of the designer's fetishes, Sir Nick F.) Some of the rear bunker edges are more than a man high! Here (lane 5) you will also find one of the longest bunkers in Europe, called "Anaconda". To compensate, water only rarely comes into play, but on the 17th there is a small, water-washed green of a short par 3. The rough is deep (tall grass), but is mostly so far off the fairways that it hardly comes into play. Length isn't really a big factor either - it's only about 5,600m (PAR 72) from the regular yellow tees.
The fairways meander slightly hilly ( "Chart HILLS") through largely open terrain - not without visual appeal.

In addition to the bunkers, the greens also pose a greater challenge. Also quite "hilly" and really fast! Thanks to the good condition (also largely given on the fairways), it's fun to putt here.

If you don't like hiking through hilly terrain, we recommend using a cart. However, inquiries by e-mail to reserve one of these were also not answered (despite a read receipt), as were attempts to book start times by e-mail. You don't really seem to have guests here - they still come in droves, so that the course is well attended (18 holes > 5 hours)...

Conclusion: almost 4 stars because of the many beautiful bunkers and the great greens. (In the "Golf Bear Ranking": 7 out of 10 points.)
