Characteristics

Situated just 15 minutes from Kilkenny City, Castlecomer Golf Club offers a unique golfing experience set within a magnificent 200-year-old forest. Designed by the renowned architect Pat Ruddy and completed in 2003, this 18-hole course sits on the historic grounds of the former Wandesforde estate. The layout is defined by its canopy of ancient trees, including rare English Oaks and giant Redwoods, creating a distinct atmosphere. The River Deen comes into play throughout the round, notably on the 14th hole, adding strategic difficulty to the stunning views. With sand-based greens ensuring year-round playability, the course offers a stern test of precision. After the round, the clubhouse provides a welcoming space with dining options and views of the surrounding woodland.
