Characteristics
Perched above the city of Bangor, the St. Deiniol Golf Club offers one of the most scenic golfing experiences in North Wales. Founded in 1906 and part of the James Braid circuit, the course is famous for its unconventional and technically demanding layout. While not overly long, the undulating terrain requires precise iron play and strategic thinking. Throughout the round, golfers enjoy breathtaking panoramic views of Snowdonia, Anglesey, and the Menai Strait. The clubhouse complements the experience with a welcoming atmosphere and majestic vistas.

Fantastic and very challenging
5.0 of 5 starsReviewed September 23, 2023
The place is embedded in a completely natural, very hilly landscape. I have certainly seen and played well over 300 golf courses, but it is very rare to find something as extraordinary and challenging as here in Bangor. Here the ambitious golfer fights from the first tee to the last hole. For me, Bangor is in the top ten places I know.
It's a constant up and down, sometimes it gets very narrow, then there's always a lot of side slope... everything is definitely doable on foot. It has almost no natural obstacles - apart from a few patches of grass on the left and a few bunkers, which are filled with semi-rough and not sand. But you don't miss these *obstacles* either, because the WHOLE PLACE IS AN OBSTACLE. Five holes are played blind, but the direction of play is well marked with poles.
fairways top, greens pretty good (although a little too undulating – my only criticism!). But you could at least take a breather while putting.
If you like very challenging golf, you should go to St. Don’t leave out deiniol. For £40 you can really experience something here.
19th hole is a bar with a modest snack menu for small appetites.

Beautiful Place
4.0 of 5 starsReviewed August 1, 2018
The place is very mountainous and exhausting on 18 holes. It offers great views to the sea and the mountains. The greens were not in top condition, but ok. Overall, a nice place with a somewhat dated clubhouse. But definitely worth a visit.
