Designed by Donald Steel and Tom Mackenzie, the 18-hole championship layout winds through ancient birch woods and heather-clad hills. A truly unique feature is the on-site Ballindalloch Distillery, reportedly the only course in the world with such a facility. Varied and well-maintained short course

We discovered this course because we were actually only planning to visit the adjacent distillery (everything, including the castle, belongs to Macpherson-Grant). It's a well-maintained, very varied course – as a previous reviewer mentioned, despite it being a short course, the tee boxes are completely different. Unfortunately, the clubhouse seems to be gone – payment is on-site (cash only) via an honesty box (£20 per person for 9 holes, £30 for 18 holes).

Rarely seen a 9-hole course, which is to play in such varied due to its different Abschlagtees on the front and rear holes.
