Great Experience

Playing the Old and New Course at Atalaya is always a treat.
The famous Old Course is a classic parkland course, with wide fairways and accessible greens. Easy to walk. A challenge for all levels of players.
The New Course is a bit more hilly, buggy is recommendable.
A bit tighter but shorter than the Old Course. Nevertheless a challenge!
Don’t miss out to try the totally renovated driving range area under the new management of former Tour player Peter Gustafsson!

A good course.

Played several times this month with a group of friends and are all very satisfied. The Old course has improved during the last two years tremendously. Played the New Course only once and is also nice but not as good as the Old Course.
Excellent practice areas.
Will come again to play and taste the "duck" at the restaurant.

Two courses perfect combination

The old course is a stablished course on the area it is really a very enjoying course in perfect conditions, greens were fantastic and the staff so nice, the new course is not as good as the old but we had a nice day playing there, no houses sourrounding, quiet atmosphere and well mantenance. We hope to play again this year.

Atalaya Old and New.

Nice setting of the courses, not a typical course with houses around, beautiful nature and very quiet.
Spectacular Old Course and challenging New Course, this one not as easy as we can expect. Just one blind hole but the other 17 very nice.
To be back another time.

New Course: Value for money does not match

The reception and the whole environment of the clubhouse is great and we were welcomed very nicely. We played the New Course for €144 including manual trolleys. We had to walk about 10 minutes to the first tee.
After 9 holes you are not at the clubhouse and there was no vending machine. Personally, the place disappointed me despite a good maintenance condition. It was sometimes unfair to play because the balls could not be stopped on the fairways due to the incline. Because it was also very windy, it was hardly possible to play the sometimes small greens in the narrow area and the ball could no longer be found. The price-performance ratio does not suit me.

We enjoyed it, also afterwards on the terrace.

New Course: you have to do it

We played the course in January 2023 - it wasn't among the top picks but there was nothing left where we actually wanted to play.
You get a place that is super short on the scorecard and you think you'll take it apart: that's the biggest mistake.
The course tears you apart if you don't hit the right spots on the fairway with precision. Really interesting holes here, for example the 5 (par 5) with a divided fairway, where it is better to stay on the higher right half.
Unfortunately, some of the yellow holes (such as the 6) were so far forward that it took away some of the thrill of the course. The 6 becomes a 210m PAR 4, if it's plugged in correctly, a tree comes into play and the hole has a totally different character. But you probably think: the better the score, the sooner the green fee payer will come back...
That's why - and because the greens were a little flooded (but then they are probably good in midsummer) - there's a star deduction.
And because the 1 & 18 lead parallel to 2 holes of the Old Course and it gets really tight there.
Definitely put it on the list for the price though.
The gastro was great!

NEW COURSE

Played on 3/1/2022 (New Course). The 36-hole Atalaya Golf & Country Club is located between Marbella and Estepona. Despite the convenient location between the two motorways AP7 and A7, you don't hear anything about it. My rating refers to the New Course because I've only played this one. It is best to take a cart, as the path to the first tee alone is about 700 meters from the clubhouse. Always follow the signs to the first tee. Incidentally, the cart also helps to cope with one or the other vertical meter on the New Course. You sometimes play alongside the usual resort buildings, but they don't bother you. The first train is still quite harmless and therefore rather boring. You're almost a bit disappointed. But the challenges increase from lane to lane. In the course there are some narrower deductions and extreme slopes again and again, some of which are almost unfair. On lane three, the tee is a bit ugly narrowed by a safety net. Course 4 (PAR 3) compensates for this with a 140 meter tee over a lake. In general, there are a few nice elevated haircuts, some even with sea views. Well placed bunkers and fast and undulating greens are another challenge. Amazing that the target is quite low, which is probably due to some short PAR 4 lanes that are easy to reach with the second shot if you play precisely. Ball losses in dense bushes are the result if you don't stay on the fairways. Higher HC should take the front tees, otherwise frustration quickly arises. The condition of the tees, bunkers and greens was mostly fine. One or the other fairway had a few bare spots. The game operation on a sunny afternoon was lively but not overcrowded. You can book tee times online with a discount, but then you have to pay for them immediately. We paid €67.50 incl. cart per player. In comparison to the Old Course and other courses in the region, it is definitely very cheap. The clubhouse is large and has several floors. The employees in the pro shop and the caddy master were friendly. There are modern toilets on site which makes sense. A special feature is that after 9 holes you are in the middle of the course and not back at the clubhouse. There is also a restaurant with an outdoor terrace behind which the sun sets. The staff is friendly and on the ball, the food is decent and affordable. I can generally recommend the New Course, but it is not an easy straight course.

Can we not have to

New course:
A good 3rd maintenance condition mediocre, greens oK and fast enough. A significantly hilly parkland course in terms of design. Actually a slightly longer short course with a lot of short par 4 around 260-290m.
Still, it was fun with buggy as you have to think more often about which club would be a good choice. Anyone who likes to experiment can have fun here.

Old course:
A bad 3rd maintenance condition mediocre, greens very fast and directional stability. Classic parkland course, BUT: basically incredibly boring to play, it goes back and forth, on the second 9 holes a little more variety with water. Very popular with seniors and therefore overcrowded, as it is absolutely flat and good for walking. The elevated greens get on my nerves personally, but that's a matter of taste.

Positive: partly friendly reception, starter at Tee1, easy parking Despite subscription, we preferred to play other places in the area that we find more interesting.

New Course

Sometimes very narrow lanes and fast greens. Layout quite varied and well maintained. However, the lanes are very close to each other, so that you have to pay close attention to the tee-offs of your fellow players. Before hole 7 and after hole 9, the buggy paths are quite steep and dangerous. With a lot of effort, we and the flights before and after us survived the slide. It is imperative that improvements are made here! To be fair, it has to be said that the paths were damp due to the fog.

Dear player, I want to thank you for your positive feedback on our New Course and your experience in Atalaya Golf. While I wish, you had a better experience, it is feedback like this that we learn from and use to improve.
The design of the New Course is totally different as our Old Championship course, it is a par 71 with undulation fairways, perfect greens and spectacular panoramic views. Some holes have steep buggy paths such as the original land where the course is built on, surely with the fog and with some olive trees (olives on the buggy paths) it can be sometimes slippery. We changed already some paths, build in special anti-slip tiles, used sand and we also will continue with improving these paths in the future.

Hope to see you soon again playing our Atalaya Golf courses.

Ok, but nothing special

I played the old course in mid-September. The course is embedded in a fairly densely built-up residential area.

The staff is very friendly, good reception and caddy master.

Since there is no starter, the time discipline is not quite optimal. We didn't see a marshal on the field either, who would have asked the very slow flight in front of us to play a faster game.

The course is well-kept, the fairways are wide and in good condition, no rough, only three or four lanes are water relevant, so there is a risk of losing the ball. Otherwise you can hardly lose a ball, very fair even for higher handicappers.

The greens were moderately fast, unfortunately not on track, partly undulated, but fair flag positions.

The road runs on several lanes directly behind the vegetation, so there is sometimes considerable car noise.

In summary, a decent place, friendly staff, not spectacular, price in my opinion too high in total.

Great old course and good customer support. The roughs play much better than last year (shorter) and fast greens. It's a shame that the New Course has been closed for almost a year.
We'd love to play it as it's a spectacular course. We'll be back in June when they open it.

Roughs were indeed shorter this year and lot more playable on our Old Course.
Due to the Covid restrictions, we did not have too many clients, so we did not open the New Course as there was no demand for playing it.
Anyhow, now both wonderful Atalaya Golf courses are open for play and people are enjoying them immensely.

Parkland course, easy to play and enjoy.

The 18 hole course is well maintained for the Andalusian winter and the service in the pro shop was good. Classic parkland, straight and flat with few pitfalls in the layout. Cozy vacation golf. All greens and the fairways were in pristine condition. Played February 2020.

What fun

We played both places and had a lot of fun on both. The Old Course is a classic, lavish parkland course with some very long holes.
The New Course is hilly (like buggy) and demands much more precision. However, this is rewarded, so that even (older) players who are not long hitters, scoring very well.
The condition of the New Course was good, that of the Old Course fantastic; definitely among the top five on the Costa del Sol.
The clubhouse, the restaurant and the bar under the first tea we really liked.
The staff was very friendly and helpful everywhere.
Even if the GreenFee is not cheap, it is worth every euro.
We will definitely be back.

THE classic course on Costa del Sol

Last week the Old Course was consistently in good to very good condition. Fairways compact and nice and short. Greens faithful and firm and fast and the roughs demanding but fair.
The New Course has a very different character. Long hitters have to restrain themselves. It is important to play precise and avoid 3-putts on the tricky greens. Well maintained.
The staff is extremely helpful and friendly and the food is commendable.

Old & New Well

We played both courses in the middle of August.
New Course: Tight and hilly with fast greens. If you play the course for the first time, if you are not sure that you hit the green definitely call Fore, as often next door is another green or a tee.

Old Corse: Wide fairways, slow dull greens. Rather mediocre.

You give yourself precious, the places and all around but this can not.

Annoying: We booked online from home and actually wanted to cancel a start time (according to the starter did not go, because you can not intervene in the system "want". (But our Startzeithätte you can move !?) Also, we wanted with the Two4one Playing card - this is not club. If you book online, you would have to book by mail and announce this.

All in all - if you want to save yourself the hassle and high cost of golf, there are plenty of other great places in the area.

Dear Mr. golf player, First of all thank you for playing our Atalaya Old and New Course.
Due to the summer and the draught we all have in Europe and especially in South Spain, we irrigate all the courses with recycled water as this is the way to do so. This give us problems on our greens and fairways, anyhow the summer months are the months when we do all the hard works to prepare it for the high season in the winter period.
You would have seen some areas that are bare as we use a weed killer to clean the courses.
Therefore, as it is low season the green fee reductions are around the 60% due to these works. This is for all players.
The Two4one playing cards are not entitle to book through our online system as we sell these special starting times to those who pay the full summer green fee.
It´s fully informed in our online-booking that Two4one do not get an extra 50% on the already discounted green fees when booked online.
And booked reservations have release times that cannot just be cancelled when we desire so. That’s in every golf course the same.

So we are sorry for the confusion.

Fairways currently only moderate in the shot

I have rated Atalaya several times and play the place again and again.

The greens are currently in good to very good condition, quite fast and full.

The fairways, however, are usually very barren covered with grass, if any. Several holes are scarred almost AZ and newly interspersed, so you can play directly from the damp (but not wet) ground or an ultra-short grass layer. Especially with the short strokes around the green, this reduces the fun much.

Conclusion: At the moment I do not play the course and wait until the seed has regrown and the fairways are again full green.

Good place, but not the highlight on the Costa del Sol

First, the parking situation is still unsatisfactory. Since a tournament took place that day, we had to park relatively far away.

The course (Old Course) is in good condition, some greens were not optimal, but all in all OK. Since we played in the afternoon, there was no waiting time and a relaxed round for us.

The complex is not the absolute highlight on the Costa del Sol, but thoroughly recommended.

Old Course

In my opinion, the golf course is in an appropriate season according to optimal condition. The fairways are perfectly maintained. The greens best, but unfortunately very slowly. Otherwise the course can only be recommended.

A beautiful golf round

- The place is well maintained (fairways and greens)
- Marshall is present, which I personally find good
- Parking situation is not satisfactory
-> Atalaya builds new parking and investing in new infrastructure stuff

- Restaurant I can highly recommend (price / performance) agrees

We will be back!

New Course - Unkempt

Can be divided over the layout of the place. We have felt the place unfair. Despite good punches the result may be poor. The fairway was present only in its infancy, there were many bald patches in the entire space. Overall, the maintenance state can be described as poor. which concerns the entire area of Atalaya conditioning. In the future, we will certainly not play the course, it was a unique experience. Friendly staff in the restaurant, with reasonable food offer.

Construction site

Old Course played, 13:15 to 17:50, all 4p flights. Waiting bearable. On and around the square is pretty degree built. Otherwise, solid Parkland Course, unspectacular but not too tightly and with space around the fairways u. Of villas. Roads. Can run well with trolley. Condition not perfect but ok, very green at this season. Was relaxing round, I would play again.

New Course

We actually had to spend before a nice Goltag. It was not the nice Danish couple that us on the flight accompanied. Getting to the New Course has already led us almost to the end of the installation. Fortunately, I have because of the playing strength of the preceding Flights ado can procure another 2 beers on the driving range. However, these were only little calm my nerves because of extremely slow gameplay. About 5 h Flight duration are definitely too much!! The place is indeed fall extremely short and therefore easy gerated, but has all its quirks and would require dose and accurate play. This is then used for space as a beginner area, then leads to abnormal long waits. We have left the plant unnerved fled.
Something we do not need and do not come back.

New Course

1. The entrance to the New Course is catastrophic.
2. The distances between the tees are partly breakneck.
2. The reductions are crooked.
3. Almost all Vorgrüns are wet.
4. At no bank can be sat down. Impossible condition.
5. For the money you can play better places.

Beautiful place for middle and senior Hcp's

We played both courses in November 2014. They were in good condition.
The New Course partially provides narrower lanes than the Old Course, for wonderful views. That he is recommended for handicap players, I can not empathize so, because I would rather recommend the Old Course, which is also mostly played by older generation. The price-performance ratio is favorable for the region, characterized both places are quite full. On the label more emphasis should be placed on the part of the club. For low handicap players rather less advisable, nor for golfers who want to bask in the elite.

Worst place on the Costa del Sol

We have booked the place because of the good reviews and were very disappointed.
Z. Zt. If only the New Course to play, but even that was in very poor condition. The fairways were more like a field.
One problem we found also other players.
Most hit the balls 20-30 yards, but have also apparently nobody has heard that you can then play.
So it extremely slowly walked forward. Man standing around constantly to wait until the flights had finally holed the ball in front of a shock to the 20th.
The Marshall was sick and not a substitute because, so far no one has taken a bit to Speed of Play.
The Gastronmie in the clubhouse was closed.
We will not play this course again safely. It is very cheap, but then rather pay a little more for a good place, of whom there are in the area, fortunately enough.

Played in August 2013

In the clubhouse you believe that you are a Nobel Club (very cocky).
The platzist littered with leaves in August. The holes are nice but no version Reisser. Green quality was mediocre. Since we have nter the 16 played courses around Marbella played better.

Old Course

Ideal holiday place for all skill levels. Very wide fairways, you can lose almost no ball. Some very nice holes. Very highly frequented place. Is probably the fact that you can play good score here. Very friendly in the pro shop and restaurant.
One of the few places areas in and around Marbella

Nothing special

In September, played the Old Course.
Typical parkland course, relatively flat, especially the many Par4 almost all have the same length that the course is quite monotonous, but the maintenance condition was OK. For the price, there are many interesting places in the area.

Average Rank

This place was the one that I liked in my Costa del Sol travel dislike. The orbits are relatively boring and care condition could be improved. However, you can play from 16:00 h sundowners and then pays only 34 € green fee. This is the place OK. A cart does not need to, because the space in contrast to other places on the Costa del Sol is very flat

Magic

Field extremely improved since the last time played three years ago. The new deck was much needed and desired by our group that we can finally enjoy. Wide streets without houses around, as they should be all but there are very few as Atalaya. Will surely. Staff very friendly.

Old Course: Wide pleasure

The wide fairways are very over-friendly. Fairways and greens in fair to good condition. Two interesting three holes, otherwise average design of the fairways. Several elevated greens that are well protected by bunkers.

Also about a week after heavy rain the place was still so wet that some stuck a high ball played at the same landing. Can also be absoviert foot well. We only played by 14 clock and had no one during the whole lap ahead or behind us. In earlier times the flow of the game can start stalled - especially if, as currently the buggies have to stay on the trails.

Old and new

Atalaya Old is a typical parkland course, not spectacular, but ok. New Atalaya is very tricky, especially with narrow fairways.
