Andermatt- Pure Alpine Golf
The ecologically-developed 18-hole golf course, situated immediately adjacent to the village, is beautifully embedded in a spectacular natural setting. 1.3 million square metres large, over 6 kilometres long, and designed to international tournament standards, it is one of the most attractive golf courses in the Alps. The course was designed by renowned golf course architect Kurt Rossknecht of Lindau, Germany. The Golf Course is GEO certified since 2020 and recertified in 2023.
The golf course is open on a Pay & Play basis to all Golfers holding a valid handicap certificate issued by an official golf federation.

Very classy little clubhouse/ fruit to take away/ balls piled up in pyramids: even for chipping! Caddy master/ starter very pleasant.
The course: fairways like soft carpets. And totally clean. And this 1 month after the winter closure. Great! Fairways mowed in a diamond pattern: classy!
Quite tiring on foot! Steep in the first 9! Greens clean and true to the course.
The only problem is that there are stones in the bunkers. They should be removed.
And: strong wind today! Difficult to play! Lost a few balls...
All in all: definitely play, maybe with a cart.

Otherwise it has a great design, 1a condition with not so fast greens - but the “problem” with the greens is common on alpine courses and the 12 minute start time interval. There are no crowds and no waiting times.
And we had little wind, which made the round more pleasant.

Everything (almost) was right! The staff at reception is very friendly, flexible and helpful. The course is very varied, exciting and fantastically maintained. While temperatures in the lowlands are above 30 degrees, it is a pleasure to play here. However, the constantly blowing wind is a challenge. During the round, a club employee meets us several times and offers us fruit and water - a very nice gesture. It's a shame that the restaurant, which is supposed to be good, closes at 7 p.m. on long summer days. We would love to come back!
