Demanding mountain goat near Liège

Played on 8/12/2021. The very demanding and hilly 18-hole course (cart for not so sporty golfers definitely recommended) is located a little south / east of Liège approx. 50 km behind the German border, coming from Aachen. The signage is moderate, you should go there with a GPS. The location in the middle of nowhere is basically quiet. Only on a national road above the square on the Backnine is there a little traffic that you can hear and sometimes see. Especially on the front nine, the tracks go through a forest, often with inclines, where at first you get that parkland feeling. One or the other tee is then a bit tighter and you should stay on the fairway if possible, otherwise you risk losing the ball. At the latest on the back nine, the tees are then mostly more open. This part of the square (lanes 11 to 16) is separated by a small street and seems to have been laid out a little later. The highlight here is certainly the track 13 (PAR 3) where it goes from elevated tees through a forest aisle from yellow 160 meters downhill to the green. On the front nine there is a similar experience with the 7, also PAR 3. It actually goes up and downhill all the time. Right at the beginning it goes uphill and on the green of the 2 you have reached the top for the first time and can enjoy the view of the area and then return via lane 3 back to the clubhouse. Tee 4 is then right next to Tee 1 and it goes straight up again. Lane 10 is also interesting. Tee downhill into a valley and then hit the heavily elevated green from the dogleg. So it never gets boring and you grow with your challenges as you know. Lane 17 is another highlight (again downhill with a secluded landing area). 18 (short and tight PAR 3, uphill) is a bit disappointing. It seems as if an 18-track was needed somehow. The condition was basically okay. One or the other green on the front nine probably had a mushroom and didn't look that good because of some bald spots, but they were playable. During my lap the greens were partially sanded. Due to the rains of the past few days, some bunkers were still partially filled with water and unfortunately most of them had not been prepared. However, I wasn't in a single bunker during my lap, as there aren't that many of them, and there are very few water hazards that really come into play. The fairways were absolutely fine. The paths from the tee to the fairway or between the lanes could be better. Lane 8 was very wet and apparently wild boars were up there too. Corresponding signs were put up there. The game on a sunny Thursday morning was manageable. As a single player, I only ran into a two-man flight in front of me on the green of hole 17. I emailed a start time a few days before my game and got a confirmation relatively quickly. The employee in the office at the entrance to the clubhouse was friendly and briefly explained the situation to me. To pay the appropriate green fee of € 60 (weekdays) we went together to the restaurant using the EC card reader. The clubhouse itself is not a particular highlight. If it still looks appealing from the outside, the sanitary facilities in the basement, for example, are rather small and also a bit old. The restaurant with a large terrace takes up most of the space. The members greeted them kindly with bonjour. Guests also seem to be more of an exception. There is a driving range behind the clubhouse where you can draw balls from the machine with € 2 pieces. If you love mountainous and wooded places with high demands, this is the right place for you.
