Charakteristik
Den Rathcore Golf & Country Club als Parkland-Platz zu beschreiben, wäre nicht ausreichend, denn was diesen 18-Loch Platz ausmacht sind unterem anderem die 2 vorschristlichen Rundschanzen, eine Motte und die zahlreichen natürlichen Quellen, die 12 Löchern zu Wasserhindernissen verhelfen.
Der Platz wurde unter der Leitung von Mel Flanagan (Irish Golf Design) von Mick und Austin Lyons gestaltet, wobei besonderen Wert darauf gelegt wurde, den natürlichen Charme der Umgebung zu erhalten. Alle Grüns wurden von Ollie Sutton angelegt, der schon auf einigen der besten Plätze Irlands gearbeitet hat.
Im Jahr 2008 wurde der Rathcore Golf Club von "Golf Digest Ireland" auf den 83. Platz der besten Golfplätze Irlands gewählt.

Just can't get enough of this course, it is the best course in Co Meath, just go and play it, a must play for any golfer.

This is a well hidden "Gem of Ireland"
I was expecting a flat genial course with no surprises - but it turned out to be an immaculate, tough course not for the faint hearted.
The 3rd hole looks easy on paper - but the first shot is over a lake and the second shot has a lake on one side and a gorse hill on the other with the narrowest fairway I have ever seen - at the end to greet you is the toughest green you have ever seen.
Great course - but take lots of balls - you will need them in both senses

I thought that this would be a walk in the (flat) park given that is int the midlands. Was I in for a surpise. Its set in the drumlins of Meath and is a wonderful challenge. Its not the longest but with most of the greens well protected (mainly water) it can be tough. €20 to play in the open was well worth it.
