Only 7 of 18 Holes can be played
2.0 of 5 starsReviewed August 18, 2021
I visited the course during my vacation in Napoli. As the Carney Park golf course inside Napoly is restricted to Army members, I tried the Volturno Golf course, quite a drive to there from Napoli, and the surroundings around the Golf Hotel seems not very safe.
On the course it was only possible to play the first 7 of the 18 holes. Obviously there is a dispute about the land lease and payment for holes 8-18. Too bad. At least I payed only 30 EUR to play 2x9 holes, In fact instead of playing hole 8 and 9, after hole 7 I had to complete the round by repeating hole 3 and 4.
The course was not in good conditions, the fairways and greens dried out with holes on greens. Bunkers not maintained. I played almost alone during the afternoon, few guests came the late afternoon.
With more care and maintenance could be a nice golf course with some wind from the sea, areas with trees/forest, lakes.

A Missed Opportunity

What can I say?
This is a typical example of the Italian style (I am Italian, so don't think I'm being partial): a great location, a wonderful place where you find a very varied and fun golf course... You get some parkland, some Undulations, some water, some links flavour, even... But the maintenance is so bad that you end up not appreciating entirely the course you're playing on. Too bad, really. Because the course is interesting, some holes are challenging, others are real fun. There's a lot of variety here. But the fairways are in bad conditions, and the greens even worse. Which, all in all, is what you're after, on a golf course: fairways and greens. Walking on a sort of minefield ain't much fun... Too bad.

Nicely located, with potential

Great golf course with lots of potential and better care. The greens are very holey and therefore sometimes difficult to play.
I played here in May 2018. The holes 10-18 were just being redone. Maybe the place then the situation better.

Between desert and rice field
1.0 of 5 starsReviewed October 31, 2012
In early October, we have 10 days to play golf. It failed to recordable places. C. Place the Volturno is broken., Obviously there was the summer no irrigation, there are only a few on the fairways and the green points are existing weeds and no grass, it is a golf course is actually only 4 to 5 holes visible. The second place is brand new and not yet actually playable.
In order not to suffer the same fate it has turned him into a rice field. The fairways are soft and the grass on the greens too high. The overall impression is further clouded that it is a construction site, the lack of any infrastructure, except for a wooden cottage of 1,5 x1,5m as a toilet actually plays hardly any role. The course is playable at the earliest in spring, in summer, it is problematic because no shrubs and no trees will provide shade. I can gladly send photos.
The greatest deception golf of my life.

Pity

The Golf Club Castel Volturno lives the fact that he is right on the sea. That is the only plus that achieves the place. Unfortunately, the place is not well maintained, neither green nor fairways were in good condition. We probably will not play the course.
