Characteristics
Uraburu is an exceptional course surrounded by mountains and occupying an area of 60 hectares.
It is located in the Basque Country (North of Spain), 15 minutes from the center of Bilbao, 1 hour from San Sebastian, 1 hour from La Rioja and 15 minutes from Bilbao airport and 1 hour from Santander Airport. The course is a remarkable 18-hole golf course designed by the famous two-time Augusta Masters champion, José María Olazabal.
Each hole is a perfect example of marriage of golf and its surroundings, highlighted by centennial oaks, conifers and other native trees, providing magical surroundings and views for the golfer. The beauty of this course lies in the diversity of its holes,there are no two holes alike. This makes Uraburu Golf a fun course with a medium-high degree of difficulty meaning each round is a unique experience.

this golf course delivers a fantastic golf experience. not only the landscape is impressive, also the layout. great shots, and tricky greens, all inclusive!
located at the westside of a mountain, one has to fight side slopes on the fairways and one has to cover a lot of elevation. a good guess is at least 400m of hight all together.
one thing you have to know in advance: there are often long ways between the greens and the t-boxes, maybe 3 km to cover in addition.
still: an experience absolutely not to be missed – if walking prepare your fitness, it's going to be real sport.

The course is treacherous but a fantastic and unforgettable challenge. Anyone who doesn't hit the ball where it SHOULD go will despair and lose a lot of balls. Even the slightest deviation is usually punished brutally. Not recommended for players with a handicap of over 25.
It's a considerable climb and descent, and there are sometimes very long distances between the tracks. Anyone who wants to do it on foot needs to be athletic.
The place was in pretty good condition in October.
The 19th hole has been very modest for years.

A very beautiful and exciting course, beautifully nestled in the landscape, very interesting to play, no two holes are alike. Quiet and uncrowded. Kilos of blackberries are available for snacks along the way. A cart is an advantage, as it's very hilly and there are sometimes long paths between holes. Very friendly staff.
