Very well maintained park with links

Played mid-June 2025, HCP 17

“Actually” a classic parkland course (a bit reminiscent of northern German heath courses), but the marbles run almost as far on the rock-hard fairways as they would otherwise only on the typical local links courses.
There are many bizarrely beautiful old trees, which fortunately only rarely come into play – they mostly stand quietly at the edge of the fairways.

The entire area is wonderfully quiet, with no disturbances from airplanes, cars, or the like.

Some holes are truly original—mostly the par-3s, but also a par-4 toward the end of the round. A 90-degree dogleg, with the back section plunging extremely steeply into the drop, and a ditch across the fairway directly in front of the green lurks waiting for balls. (In my opinion, it's bordering on unfair—it's impossible to judge whether balls will land in the short-cut grass before they reach the ditch or just barely.) You come across such ditches quite often—they often stretch across the fairways in the drive landing zone or just before the green. At least there are no large ponds to cross—a deep ravine can be easily played around.

Unfortunately, some of the holes are quite similar - hit the ball as far forward as possible, stay out of the rough (it's VERY high and tough, but usually far away from the fairways) and then have fun on the greens.

In my opinion, these pose the greatest challenge on the course. Enormous slopes – unfortunately, it's impossible to tell (especially when approaching the greens from a distance) whether the green slopes uphill or downhill. You only notice this once you've reached the green (unless you have a more detailed knowledge of the course). Thus, balls that roll onto the green often suddenly stop 10 meters from the flag, and balls played to the flag disappear behind the green into the lush grass to "compensate"...

The bunkers are less dramatic. They're largely easy to remove from play—and if you do end up in one, you have a fair chance of getting out. While they're designed in a links style, they're not too deep and very well maintained—like the rest of the course. Their condition was absolutely flawless during our play—high praise to the greenkeepers!

A cart isn't actually necessary for the course, although there are significant elevation changes from tee to green on a few holes. However, a cart is highly recommended for the journey to the driving range! (At least there is one here – which isn't the case at many courses in the region.)

Conclusion: Beautiful parkland with magnificent old trees, some original fairways, and very well-maintained. A mere 4 stars. (In the "Golf Bear Ranking": 7 out of 10 points.)
