Characteristics

This course impresses with its unique location: The courses follow in the beginning the outlines of the deep valley and afterwards around the mountain, with breathtaking views in the Mediteranean. It is also well manageable with higher handicaps, although there are some holes with a very peculiar character! A beautiful, neat course with a a perfectly matching clubhouse in the style of a manor-house.

Mountain and valley with a tee shot above the motorway

Played on September 1,2025. The 18-hole course is located approximately 40 km from Malaga Airport and 12 km west of Marbella city center, near the coast but not directly on the sea. The course is not a resort course and has relatively few construction sites and ruins in sight. Residential development is rather discreet. Due to the elevation differences (cart use is recommended), some holes offer sea views. The first nine holes wind uphill through the hinterland, and the back nine descend again. After nine holes, you reach the other end and the highest point of the course. A nine-hole round is therefore rather difficult. On the first hole, the first elevated tee is directly in front of the clubhouse, and you have to stretch to get over a large lake. The first three holes then circle the clubhouse. Tee 3 is practically right next to the clubhouse. What's unique about the golf course is that it runs over the AP7 motorway. So there's no tunnel underneath; on the contrary, the tees for holes 5 and 15 are directly above the motorway. A minor drawback is that you can clearly hear the motorway from these tees. Otherwise, the holes are largely peacefully nestled into the landscape. The course offers several elevated tees, often over large bodies of water, and often has tight landing zones. A fair amount of bush and trees come into play. Doglegs and well-placed bunkers round out the game. The greens were slightly sanded during our play, so they were rather slow but still true. Players with higher handicaps should take the front tees. The official handicaps limit makes sense, but isn't really enforced, as the club is apparently grateful for every paying player. The green fee during the season is €90 without a cart. The sundowner starts at 2 p.m. and costs €75. The cart costs €40 or €30, respectively. The course is definitely worth the green fee. For the most part, the condition of the course was absolutely fine. The reception by the staff in the pro shop was friendly. Tee times can be viewed and booked online via the website or at GolfinSpain. com, but you must pay directly. The tee times are unnecessarily frequent at 8 minutes. Since play was very limited during our round at 2:30 p.m., the marshal even sent us on our round a little earlier. A flight ahead of us let us play through, and after that, everything was free. Play seems to be more relaxed in the afternoons. A slight dampener on our enjoyment was the advice from the pro shop employee that you should always carry your valuables with you when you leave the cart, or even better, lock them in safes in the pro shop. Thefts are apparently not uncommon. The clubhouse consists more or less of the pro shop and the restaurant above it (not in use). I didn't see a driving range or practice area. There is a small putting green at the first tee. All in all, a recommendable course on the Costa del Golf.
