A tough challenge in the heart of the forest

The Old Course at Royal Ashdown has a special character. This is a place where nature decided a golf course should be and provides a glorious walk through mature woodlands as well as a tough but scrupulously fair test of golf.

There are no bunkers but players only usually realise this after walking off the 18th green as there are plenty of other challenges including heather, streams and ditches all set up in a way to test the very best. This is no place for the novice but a historic old course that regularly hosts Open Championship qualifiers and amateur international matches.

The West Course is shorter but equally challenging with narrow tree lined fairways and small, raised greens. A morning playing the Old Course followed by lunch and a round on the West is a delightful way to spend a day, only 20 minutes drive away from London Gatwick Airport yet still in the heart of the English countryside
