Characteristics

Port St Johns Golf Club is a 9-hole course at the mouth of the Umzimvubu River on the Wild Coast, Eastern Cape, South Africa. Originally founded in the 1880s, it is one of the oldest golf clubs in South Africa. Open to the public. Membership open to golfers worldwide - members receive a WHS-valid GolfRSA handicap card and affiliated visitor rates at courses across South Africa.

The course lies in a natural amphitheatre formed by densely forested sand dunes only 150 meters from where the mighty Umzimvubu River meets the Indian Ocean between the majestic Mount Sullivan and Mount Thessiger.

Separating the course from sea and river is a sand dune system on which the ruins of the once great Cape Hermes Hotel are situated.
