This course is well laid out and is surrounded by beautiful woodland. It's a challenging 9 hole, Par 37 with a stunning Par 3 finale.
Unfortunately, for years now it has suffered from significant drainage problems and the council / Xcite are clearly not investing significantly in its maintenance. I've lost balls in the middle of summer when I've driven to the middle of the fairway and the balls have plugged deep!
It also suffers from a lack of staffing with no-one walking the course.
This leads to all sorts of characters playing. You'll see 5 people at 1 hole. 4 people sharing 2 sets of clubs and a general lack of respect for any golf etiquette.
It further suffers from being attached to a country park and the usual low life dog walkers letting their dogs run riot across fairways and not controlling them while sticking to the perimeter paths.
All in all, this is a course who's original layout deserves so much more but in order to guarantee enjoyment you'd need to play after a 3 month drought and, ideally some kind of focussed apocalypse that wiped out some of the disrespectful locals.
A real shame as with some long term commitment, hands on management and money spent, this course could be very good indeed.
