Great course

After another change of ownership, the course is a much happier place, with impeccable tees, fairways and immaculate greens, compared with a year ago.

Not dissimilar to a slightly muted Pinnacle Point, with some challenging holes. Generally wide fairways to assist the average golfer and almost no-one else on the course, it's a delight and we look forward to returning.

Beautiful golf round

Currently you can compare the condition of Oubaai with GC George and Kingswood. We (HCP 26 and 29) enjoyed the wide fairways. It was a very nice day of golf. It wasn't as crowded as the other places either. We'll definitely come back next year.

Oubaai in poor condition

The place is in bad condition. Fairways and greens are playable, but no more. Bunker neglected, there is no sand. Partly plastic foil is visible. Ball washer partially destroyed. The Pro Shop is empty. From the plant this renowned course is still very beautiful. However, the condition in no way justifies the price.

Nothing special

The system makes a very noble impression, but that's where it stays. the golf course itself is nothing special: with a few exceptions a wide freeway on slightly flat, undulating terrain. I call it * feel-good golf * - here (almost) every failure is forgiven. the whole thing can be done without any problems on foot.

only the holes 5,6, 7 and 17 give something for the golfer's heart. Hole 6, a par 3, is very spectacular.

in detail: fairways short mowed like greens with rock-hard underground. you can hardly get the racket under the ball. greens extremely dull and bumpy. Description of place and distance markings do not exist. bunker sand as hard as concrete.

With these prerequisites, and without any knowledge of the place (played for the first time), I beat my HC by 2. not because i had a good day of golf, but only because the diesel golf course doesn't make any demands and forgives almost anything.

if you do without oubaai, you don't miss anything. ernie els gives the name at best, probably for a little change.
normally in the middle 4 * range, but only 3 * in terms of quality

Beautiful golf course

Great service, the bags were carried from the car to the carts. Nice reception in the Pro Shop, in a short time we had the briefs for our pre-booked start time via Golfscape (€ 100 for two with a cart). The fairways are in very good condition, the greens are loyal and not so fast.
The bunkers were partly revised (GUR) which was also necessary (much too hard) Very nice golf course, exciting layout, very nice view of the gorges and the sea.
We would love to come back. It was an all round beautiful golf day.

Again, the price-performance ratio is right

This place is certainly not as spectacular as many others in South Africa, but it still has its charm. For this must say, as a resident in the estate, the place has cost about 500 Rand. The range is unfortunately completely elsewhere, but at least there is a full-fledged driving range. The place is fair, but still depending on which tee you play athletic. He can also be played by weaker HCP's (I have HCP 8.4). Well maintained greens, good fairways and nasty Ginsterbuschrough. There are definitely a few highlight holes like the 17 and 18.

Beautiful golf round

We played the course on 13.02.2018. Certainly there are more spectacular places in the region. But the place was in very good condition with juicy fairways and great greens. Some views are blocked, but that did not break the game. Handicaps 5 to 22.

Bad planning

Beautiful wide fairways, mostly slightly wavy, easy to play bunkers. Greens neatly undulating. With a spectacular pair 3, the 6th hole only with the men. As a hotel guest you pay 500 Rand. But, the driving range is located to the left of the hotel complex. The clubhouse and the 1st hole 2 km away from the coast. But the Halfwayhouse near hotel complex.

A pity, there would have been more...

On this place you have built the houses where you want the fairways. From the location one could have done much more (must, see Pinnacle Point or Pezula). But if you think about your handicap on vacation, you're right here. But then play the best of the green men's tees: with two / three exceptions are always three feet behind the red women's tees, all obstacles are not involved and a terrific score is almost guaranteed.
Unfortunately also quite expensive (for local conditions) and therefore quite disappointing.

Very nice place / Top Service

We were in February four weeks there and play the course very often. Very neat place and super fast greens. The layout is spectacular. Here you will be treated as a guest and price performance to be proud of. We will come back!

Classic Ernie Els Course

We played the course in February 2017th The place is by design a typical Ernie Els Place: very wide fairways, many, precisely placed in the landing zone Drive Bunker (as long as you play for his skill level from the proper tee). The course plays well, fun guaranteed!
The condition is excellent, super fast greens, great manicured fairways and bunkers of top quality.
Not so nice is the development and only at the last holes one from the square a great sea view. Who puts the focus on the views, will find on the Garden Route other places beautiful. But to whom it primarily to the court and court state arrives, will be delighted.
There is a very nice, modern clubhouse with large panoramic windows overlooking the course and the sea. Our food (wraps) was outstanding. The pro shop is well stocked.
Everywhere friendly staff.
We booked through the Golf Pass SA, so fantastic value for money!

Well...

From the position on the cliffs you can do more. However, you can hardly see, with a few tracks, the sea. We we will find the place relatively monotonous and there is hardly any variation. Of course, that's whining at a high level, however, must of course with many other top places in this region can be compared.

Beautiful, well-kept place

Beautiful, well-kept place, the slightly loses in comparison with the other hotspots around the Cape of voltage potential, especially for the women who come here literally often too short. Increase Capable seemed the Service.

Expected More...

Even the drive from the gate to the clubhouse seems endless at Resort houses along that all seem a bit drab. The small clubhouse is very nice, the info in the pro shop where you pay green fees, rather sparse. The place looks barren, few plants, the layout of tracks repeats itself. Many bunkers, challenging greens. Bahn 6 (Par 3) provides at least for men a challenging tee over a wooded ravine, the reduction of the ladies on the other hand is a joke, or at most a Pitchingwegde iron 9 are sufficient to reach the green - a pity. Overall, a place whose layout does not really memories. Not bad, but not as special as it wants to convey the website. Care condition good.

Ernie What've you got there just built...

Always repeating tracks, very wide fairways with bunkers so that except for a few seascapes offers nothing really interesting!
The bunker-like houses many partially disturb only the view of the sea...
Too bad, you would here probably be able to build a really exciting links course, but came out a has more So-so golf course, you do not really need to play, unless you his joy at the ever-present wind and the (too) many bunkers!

Long hamlet with a few spectacular views

Played on 12/12/2014, HCP 14

Boring, mostly relatively barren paths that barely remembered. Only two or three holes with beautiful views of the sea. Without wind it was a children's birthday party place - but the storm is blowing quite strongly on almost every track. Only the wind, the length (about 6,000m from the "regular" white, over 6,500 of the blue "Champion" Tees - a cart is recommended to all those who are not really good on foot) prevent and (of course) your own stupid fault a very good score.

When, however Cart annoy the advertisements of Navis, you must push away again and again to see the desired information on the fairway. It really does not have to be that you will be bombarded with intrusive advertising on the golf course!

Hardly water hazards. A few bunkers, where you should go out of the way, even if they are good playable - the web is otherwise too long. The problem with the Wind (2-3 iron) to estimate the lengths correctly. Equally well taken Drives have a difference in length of 80m loose and more - depending on the wind direction.

Greens quickly and fairly undulating. The problem is the speed estimate, because the wind catches on the greens.

Not completely obstructed, but quite a lot of houses that are also really ugly as rectangular gray boxes.

Condition not topp, but good.

Conclusion: Clear the weakest course of this year's holiday in South Africa. The most interesting is actually the small Gulf Museum ( "Hall of Fame"), which deals with the history of golf, above all, from the perspective of South Africa is concerned and is really worthwhile. (Tip for all golfers, especially in bad weather - schedule at least 1 to 2 hours for this!) In the square there is, however, only 2 stars (the "Bear Golf Ranking": 4 out of 10 points) - sorry, Ernie, Play ' Golf and überlass' the "design" other...

Beautiful place with sea view

We have the Ernie Els Signature Course played by two today (HCP 24 & 28).
Beautiful place quite sophisticated, and some holes a nice view of the sea.
After we played Fancourt Montagu yesterday, there is Oubaai for only four stars. Fairways and greens

Great Place

Very varied and sometimes difficult course. Creeks of 150 m must be dubbed. You will be rewarded by a breathtaking view. The clubhouse is well run with a great sea view. A handicap of max. 20 f M. Does the round spectacular.
