Average parkland with harbor views

Played mid-June 2025, HCP 17

Milford Haven is a relatively short (< 5,200m from the yellow tees) parkland course. The fairways are mostly quite wide, but often bordered on at least one side by woodland or "out of bounds."

Unfortunately, the beautiful landscape is spoiled in some places by numerous power pylons and overhead power lines. The view of the sea, which is available from a few trams, is also somewhat obscured by the harbor facilities. From time to time, the loud hooting of ships can be heard blaring over the area – apart from that, it's wonderfully quiet, with only the occasional quite noticeable wind whistling.

Water hazards are practically nonexistent, and bunkers are rarely in play. If you do end up in the sand, it's easy to get out again - they, like the entire course, are in good condition.

The greens are trickier. Unfortunately, they're significantly slower than the practice green. Most of them slope to a greater or lesser extent, so you almost always putt uphill or downhill. You only notice which direction you're putting directly on the green—which makes it difficult to control your shot from a distance unless you know the course well.

In some places( transitions between the "old" 9 and the later added new 9 holes - after holes 6 and 15 - the paths are VERY long. Otherwise, the course is only moderately hilly and therefore easy to manage on foot; a cart is not necessarily required.

Conclusion: An average parkland course with harbor views in some spots. It's a good course to play, but not necessarily a bucket list item. A solid 3 stars, also due to the well-maintained condition and friendly service.

(In the “Golf Bear Ranking”: a good 5 out of 10 points.)

Good place

Good place with beautiful views. Catering and maintenance condition of the locker room can unfortunately not a better rating.
