Years ago we played both courses on the trip to Brooksville (World Woods) and were thrilled, the conditions were excellent.
The South Course was in the top 100 in Florida for many years, but is currently not quite able to keep up, the potent competitors are very numerous. Now they've closed it for maintenance and want to get back on the top 100 list.
We can only play the North Course, by Florida standards it plays almost like a "mountain course" with some decent movement in the terrain - great. Although the fairways are very wide and the driver can almost always be played, it gets challenging. There wasn't too much roll today, the fairways were soft, it looks like they've been littered, they want to let the bent grass feel at home on their course.
There are many bunkers to catch the balls, they are not easy to play, some are really malicious and deep.
The greens are excellent, great to play, brutally fast.
Everything a golfer could wish for, great courses, good practice area, great clubhouse and very good staff.
At that time we had grades from 1 to 6, we gave it a straight 6, today there are 5 stars.
