Relaxed golf across the border

Played on May 21,2021. The slightly to moderately hilly 18-hole course (cart recommended for those who are not so sporty) with an additional 9-hole short course and large driving range is 23 km behind the German border. If you take the Autobahn in the direction of Heerlen near Aachen, you take the first exit after the border and then 20km on country roads. The facility is actually located east of Maastricht in peace and nature. On the first 9, depending on the wind direction, you can hear some road noise from the nearby federal road N278. You can also see one or the other aircraft, probably from Maastricht Airport, taking off. Due to the hilly location, you have beautiful views of the landscape from some elevated tees on both the front and the back nine. On the front nine you play past an oval garden, which is laid out as a park, with fourteen stations of the cross, a Lourdes grotto and a chapel. The tracks are open and varied. It starts a bit unusual with a short PAR 3 downhill. Every now and then water comes into play but in manageable numbers. Some large bunker landscapes are noticeable, especially on runway 3. Tee 12 is a nice island tee and the tee at 18 is one of the few narrow tees. One of the challenges in my game was the very hard and fast greens and the wind that day. Some lanes against the wind and uphill can be very long. The condition was perfect. Small drawback, there are only yellow and red tees. The game was quite busy on a Friday morning. An early start time reservation is obviously always necessary. I had made a reservation 14 days in advance. You can also register as a German golfer on the homepage and then book tee times on all of the Het Rijk Association's courses. Despite the busy game activity, I played without a teammate. But there were also some three and four flights behind me, despite Corona. But there was almost no waiting time. The members greeted everyone in a very friendly manner. The lady at the counter was a bit stressed, but very friendly despite the constant ringing of the phone and was happy to take my green fee. Depending on the day of the week, the green fee for 18 holes is € 62 to € 75, which is the upper limit. But there are also early bird and sundowner tariffs. The clubhouse with restaurant and sun terrace makes a modern impression. You can't go wrong here and enjoy a round of golf just across the border.

Very nice, slightly hilly golf course with manicured greens (Stimpmeter 7.5) and wide fairways. The entire environment made a very clean impression.
