Flat place, quiet. Hardly any water hazards. The greens are well defended by bunkers. The tracks are relatively close together, but separated by trees and bushes. Number 12 good hole, peninsula green.

Even when we visited in early August 2023, the place was in great condition. During this time it rained heavily for days. While other courses in the region were no longer playable due to wet conditions, the Varus golf course showed no sign of the rain.

Very nice pitching area to practice. Looked like it was cut with nail scissors. Almost forgot our tee time here; it's fun to practice here.
We found the wind turbines interesting. On lane 13 you get very close to one of these specimens! In the course of the energy transition discussion, you can form your own opinion - in the truest sense of the word. They didn't bother us.
Overall, we found the course challenging - especially the very cleverly placed bunkers came into play again and again.

The maintenance condition in my game was generally okay with some bald spots on the fairway and a little too much dandelion aside. The greens were in top order, loyal and fast. I cut off on a bank holiday at 7 o'clock in the morning and there the greens were already mowed! A point of criticism are the two large wind turbines that come on the back 9 at least partially, very close and diminish the volume and the drop shadow a little the good overall impression.
