Characteristics
This course situated on a terrain of 240 acres has a spacious character. The sequence of the holes was laid out in conformance with the typical topography of the Teutoburger Wald as well as the skillful integration of the population of old trees and bushes. Golfer will encounter both long fairways flanked by bunkers and very undulating greens featuring skillfully-placed bunkers.

Flat place, quiet. Hardly any water hazards. The greens are well defended by bunkers. The tracks are relatively close together, but separated by trees and bushes. Number 12 good hole, peninsula green.
Two huge wind turbines stand next to the square. Are often seen from different tracks. Sometimes right in front of your eyes.
Back nine has more water hazards but fewer bunkers.

Even when we visited in early August 2023, the place was in great condition. During this time it rained heavily for days. While other courses in the region were no longer playable due to wet conditions, the Varus golf course showed no sign of the rain.
In principle, everything has already been mentioned about the system. Below are just a few brief comments/additions:
Very nice pitching area to practice. Looked like it was cut with nail scissors. Almost forgot our tee time here; it's fun to practice here.
We found the wind turbines interesting. On lane 13 you get very close to one of these specimens! In the course of the energy transition discussion, you can form your own opinion - in the truest sense of the word. They didn't bother us.
Overall, we found the course challenging - especially the very cleverly placed bunkers came into play again and again.
Definitely worth a visit.
