Bad information policy on the condition of the place

Played on December 18th, 2020. The 9-hole course (PAR 34) with driving range is located a little east of the Eifel town of Bitburg and is already quite close to the border with Luxembourg. From the A60 it is a few kilometers through the Eifel to get there. The advantage is absolute peace and nature! The railways actually have no special highlights. Usually it just goes straight ahead. There are no water hazards or doglegs. One should keep an eye on the exclusion and the rough zones. There are two easy inclines and on the only PAR 5, the sixth lane, there may be blind strokes. So far more suitable for beginners or the fast lap. Which brings me to the two star rating, and I'm rather generous with my ratings. I had called the day before my game to get a start time, because the appealing homepage says "No game without reservation". Since no one answered despite several attempts, I then wrote an email. Even though I didn't get an answer, I went there anyway, which turned out to be a fatal mistake. When I got there on a dry, rather sunny Friday morning, nobody was in sight. Neither players nor employees, the “clubhouse” looked more like a barrack from the outside, was locked. At least the toilets were open when there was no water. Since there was a green fee mailbox with scorecards and envelopes, I decided to play. There were no signs that the place was closed or in winter operation (winter greens). The homepage also suggested normal gaming operations. I also went from the parking lot to the first tee and checked whether there was something about a parking lot. The flags were even on summer greens as I saw, so I paid the very demanding green fee of € 35 (weekdays) for 9 holes and went to tee. I would have better checked the overall condition of the place there beforehand. That was a disaster to say the least. Only after my first tee did I see that the fairways had apparently not been mowed for a long time. The grass had grown to rough height, so that the balls immediately landed on the ground and you had to look for them on the fairway. The bunkers full of leaves and neglected. The tees also full of leaves and not mowed. The greens were only playable if the putt line had been cleared of leaves and hare. They were correspondingly slow and otherwise didn't look inviting. The worst thing was that the whole place was so wet and muddy that the floor was a centimeter thick under your shoes and under the trolley. Talking for yourself, you had to look for a reasonably suitable place for each stroke. In all honesty, the place should have been blocked and certainly not in this state you can call up the full green fee without a reference to the state of the place on the homepage or at the clubhouse. Now I met a greenkeeper before the 8th green and talked to him. The poor guy was very nice but totally desperate and said that he can no longer drive his machines on the pitch, but that the game should continue. Of course, after the lap, I couldn't remove the dirt from my equipment and clothes, as water and compressed air were turned off at the cleaning station. Yes, I should have stopped, but with every further train I had the hope that it might get better, took the trip and paid quite a bit. So one can only hope for the club and the members that things will go better here in the summer, but in this condition please shut down and communicate this on the homepage, on an answering machine and at the clubhouse.

The golf club for everyone

To start with, the GC Südeifel in Baustert is not St. Andrews or the Augusta Golf Club. But if you are looking for relaxation, enjoy the wonderful Eifel landscape and hospitality, you will feel in good hands there. For my part, I have found the joy of golf here and am now a very satisfied member of the GC. The facility is in a very clean condition and the members and the course operators have treated me as a newbie always friendly and courteous. The local pro is amazingly nice and just a great guy!

All in all: clear recommendation, 5 stars.

Short place, little going on

Very nice reception in the simple clubhouse. After a week of rainfall, a week was not mown, but was pointed out directly. The place short, little going on, good for beginners. Nothing special except a few very narrow landing areas.

Nice golf course with a touch of home

I might never have started playing golf when I would not have been taken here as family. I have so much fun at the games found what I had not previously thought possible. The system is integrated into the landscape and the round is like a walk in nature. Here man is in the foreground and it is all helped with words and deeds. I do not regret the membership and look forward to many happy hours on the golf course.

Super great golf club for young and old.

Here it is fun to play golf. Great groomed 9-hole course on which it's just fun. Whether tournament or just like that. For such a system the green fee of 40 euros for 18 holes is really cheap. The club building is quaint and invites you to linger. The terrace is a lovely place to meet during the summer with friends.

Mass instead of class

Quantity instead of quality.
On the weekends, very comfortable and increasingly large crowds.
By many players who do not come forward but following through can not play, often very unpleasant.
Organization concerning the tee times would be helpful.
No one looking times on the court after things.
Only plus: excellent PRO
