A golf jewel in the Mühlviertel

The Sterngartl Golf Club really surprised and delighted us on our first visit. The golf course, about 25 km north of Linz, is like a sprawling alpine pasture surrounded by wooded hills at about 600 m above sea level. Pure nature and biotopes all around, which are also attractively decorated with flowers. The course itself is hilly, very well maintained and really suitable for every level of player. Despite heavy rain the days before, we were given a golf cart. The fairways and greens were in really good condition, even though they were wet. We really enjoyed the round and rounded off a wonderful day of golf in a fantastic natural setting in the excellent restaurant. For us, the GC Sterngartl is one of the top 3 in Upper Austria.

Still top

Just like two years ago, the well-maintained course impresses with its appearance and the very beautiful fairways and especially with the excellent greens. These are well undulated, very fast and true to the line - simply great.

Tee shots are okay, fairways are well maintained, bunkers are easy to play, and the course is also in very good condition off the fairways.
Gladly again!

Secretariat nice, catering good.

Really ok!

Beautiful, slightly hilly (except for the climb on the 15th!!!) woodland course. No forest clearings, but completely surrounded by forest.
At this early time of year it's already in absolutely top shape!
Certainly one of the best places around Linz and in Upper Austria!

Fine place with lots of variety

Our first visit to this lovingly maintained facility; successful all around. The course itself is hilly and therefore a challenge, in between very interesting tracks - but good course management allows a passable score. Two lanes are challenging because it's pretty uphill - the 3 and the 15; that also means a downhill; on the 4 (par 3) and the descents to the green of the 13 and to the tee of the 16. Not a big issue for us, people with physical disabilities are probably better off with a cart.
The restaurant is also a highlight: tasty, well prepared and committed, cordial staff in the service. A successful day, we would love to come back!

Five-star garden

One of the most beautiful and varied places I know. Uphill, downhill, inclined and straight - everything is there. And not forever long, wide fairways. The staff was friendly and the food was good. The second time here won't be the last.

Great place, but only recommended for Hcp under 36

Sensationally well-kept, beautiful course, but with hilly and therefore challenging fairways. Playing uphill / downhill / blind often; therefore often inclines, which are difficult to play / master for poorer players. Reception great, restaurant recommendable. A trip to the Sterngartl is definitely worth it.

Great Place

In 2017 I played here for the last time, back then only 3 stars, what was moved here is phenomenal!
Hole 1 and 2 were converted into great holes, excellent course maintenance, greens in perfect condition, directional stability and relatively fast, praise to all those responsible. Despite the heavy rain recently, the place was dry and not under "water"!
The par 70 course is relatively short (5,405 m from yellow), but has beautiful, challenging holes and unusual 6 par 3 holes.
The layout is great, because the fairways are demanding, it doesn't get boring, it goes constantly up and downhill.
Gastronomy also very good - all in all you can only recommend this place!

Arrival with obstacles - but it was worth it

The way from the hotel was only 20 km - but narrow streets and switchbacks. Club house, service, food great. Like the approach, the course has many vertical meters, but many great, original holes. We are happy to come back.

Beautiful place but...

With restrictions. First the positive: Scenic very nice and varied place. Each hole is different and therefore there is no boredom. Fairways absolutely ok and the greens slowly. But this should be due to the high altitude and the horrific spring weather. The hole 1 - PAR 5 - uphill is getting used to. Also the partly wide routes from the 3 to the 4 and above all almost unreasonable the way from the 9 to Loch 10! Here I do not understand the planning golf architects at their best.
Despite complaints at a high level - the place is definitely worth playing!

Great place with friendly people

I felt very well here, both from the nice people I met, as well as from golfing. I think: a place you must have played when you are in the area around Linz!
Sporty demanding because of the many up and down, but one is rewarded with great views. Spectacular also the 7, when the 6 had fought up and got back to air, handed me an i5 for a ~ 220m strike (downhill;))

Two remarks:
1. the Bach beer is a great idea, thank you :)
2. because I was close to balls, I have one of the beloved ball bags and of course paid into the cash desk of the trust. When I opened the bag later on the round, I would have liked to undo this: a broken ball, one to the unrecognized faded rangeball and quite a lot of scraping marbles... clearly I do not expect AAA Lakeballs, but so much scrap, I would have synonymous did not think :(
The episode also cost the fifth star, the place deserved it

Unfortunately catastrophic greens

Beautiful place in a beautiful landscape. Mountainous with lots of ups and downs, exhausting, but rather easy to play as wide fairways.

Although a few rather unusual holes, the 1, a par 5 with extreme dogleg, as well as the 2, a par 4, steep downhill, with Dogleg to the left.
You have to play these holes a few times to find the right bat.

Extremely bad were the greens, unkempt, bumpy, slow, a pity around the beautiful place.

Gastro is not recommended, here are still some efforts necessary!

Fitness Trail in beautiful nature

A well maintained complex, set in a beautiful landscape. An interesting course, very hilly. Some holes are thereby difficult that you can not exactly see where you have to first legs. Clubhouse and training facilities (driving range, putting and chipping greens) are ok. Overall a nice, challenging course.

Excellent

The course is extremely varied, hardly a hole like the other. On the first hole you come to wheeze and that happens at this place several times, up and down, not for Fußmarode. All in all, a nice experience, the best tracks for me are 2,13,14 and 15

Simply perfected

A beautiful golf course, fantastically adapted to the nature. Very varied and fairly. Casual atmosphere, here goes. s still around golf, and not be seen around. absolutely snopfreie zone. Just wonderful to play here.
Also very good training facilities with driving range, putting green and 2 Chippinggrüns with bunkers.

've Played a lot of places in Austria and around the world (more than 100), but Sterngartl is very special. a place to relax.
