Nice place in the mountains

The GC Oberberg with its 18-hole course (5,957 meters with par 73 and slope 136 from the yellow tees) is close to the A4 and the A45 and is therefore really easy to reach. Despite this proximity, it is wonderfully quiet on the square, ie no disturbing traffic value can be heard.

In addition to the 18-hole course described below, there is also a public 6-hole short course.

When I arrived, I found the parking lot to be quite small, but there is the possibility to park along the leading road.

The clubhouse can be reached in just a few steps and I was warmly welcomed in the secretariat. Rs gave a short briefing and then to the rather small driving range, where the practice balls are free.

After hitting it, about 50 meters had to be overcome 😉 and you're already on the 1st tee - everything is really close together without looking crowded.

The course was in good condition, wide fairways and beautiful, interesting doglegs are simply a pleasure. It's a pity that the greens are still suffering from the remains of a fungal infestation (at least my guess), because unfortunately clear putts could not be played with them - very often the putts promised from a short distance and that spoiled my joy in the otherwise great course.

The whole course was very well signposted and there was really nowhere to get lost on the course - really well done!

There are really some great holes to play - I especially liked the last hole. A 484 meter long par 5 at the end with a very long left curve and a water hazard on the side pulls back towards the parking lot. Really great conclusion of a beautiful place worth playing.

Type : open space
Difficulty : medium
Reward factor : accurate and long game
Blind shots : few
Obstacles : some bunkers and water - in addition, frequent slopes
Tip : a cart makes sense if you don't have the right condition
Repetition factor: gladly

Anything but flat

At the weekend we played the course as part of the Germany final (Joka Rules) as a Texas Scramble. The first impression was very positive. A nice clubhouse (modern), decent number of parking spaces and the training area is sufficiently available. The driving range is a bit away, but with many targets and enough tees.

We were able to buy a logo ball, but unfortunately there was no birdie book. There is a QR code on every lane board, which takes you to the lanes in the network. Doesn't fit into the collection of birdie books ;-)

The course was in good condition, the fairways were full and the greens were fast. The course is challenging and it helped that we had flight partners from GC Siegerland. So we were able to fall back on the tips on the course of the course, since not all courses are clear. Some blind deductions and the mountainous courses have already challenged us. The front nine seemed easier to us than the back nine. The par 3 holes are not easy to hit and for "higher" HCPs it is certainly more likely to be reached with the second shot. With hole 9 (166 m) and a decent height difference (the green is significantly lower), the difficulty is that the greens here in the club are all quite small.

All in all we are thrilled and will be back next year, then for a weekend so we can play the course twice. But you should be fit and an e-trolley is also helpful. Otherwise, also with a card, for those who like it more comfortable and not so sporty. There are many great views on the lap and we have seldom made so many steps and vertical meters in one lap.

The food in the gastro was good and the prices are right. The ambience is modern and the service was also good. The members were friendly, we can't say anything about the office because we only had contact with the organizer.

Mountainous but doable

A relatively violent place where you should bring a little stamina and which is a little hidden (at least when you play it for the first time).
With some holes you have to trust your club because they have to be played blind. Here it is not just a matter of hitting it, but a certain space strategy makes sense.
All in all, however, to play fair and there are great prospects when the game is not that good.
Reception in the clubhouse and the members were very friendly.

Top - very front seat, which is a lot of fun

We played the course in mid-August (HCP 18 / 32.5).

The course is the hardest course we have played so far (yellow men CR 71.8, Slop 140 !!) and is very demanding. Strategic play is very helpful here. The differences in height require a precise selection when choosing a club. It is best to carry the bag there or use an e-trolley, as it is constantly going up and down. From our point of view, the place is fair and suitable for all handicap classes.

Place: strong differences in altitude, almost always sloping, often blind strokes required - which is fun. Poles are set up here as orientation points.
Greens: medium-fast to fast greens, often areas have been repaired with sand. This should come from old pitch brands. Fungal spots were visible on a few greens.
Overall condition of the course: very good - with the small drawback on the greens.
Secretariat: very friendly telephone and personal registration!
We immediately felt at home. No tee time reservations - telephone reservations are recommended.
Clubhouse: not visited

Place in a quiet nature.

Very nice, helpful secretary. We take a buggy, there are sometimes long ways between the tracks. A few laps are played blind, so it is worthwhile to drive with the buggy. The first nine are from train 4 on a plateau with great views. Some fairways with a steep slope, because you have to play the edge so that the ball does not roll into the bunker. Great island green on the 12th and 18th Kostronomie is also friendly. We like to come back.

Wonderful views, but very sporty

A very nice and friendly welcome in the Secretariat brings us to the round. With great weather we played a beautiful round. It goes up and down repeatedly. Therefore, it was very tiring. Less sporty is strongly recommended a cart.
The tees and greens were rock-hard in very good maintenance condition, the fairways and dry. Some very sloping lanes that are built into the hillside, with their blind blows not so nice. The magical view of many tracks on the Siegerland compensate but for much. Our favorite the par 5 tracks 12 and 18 have fallen where each the green is protected by water. A great clubhouse and nice club members complete the whole.

Game of golf in a beautiful setting

Two weeks ago, my wife and I played for the third time since 2010, this place. A friendly welcome in the Secretariat was given each time. The place has a very good transport links. Good practice opportunities before the game. Very nice clubhouse with friendly service in which we then ate very well. The place is very beautiful and offers most of the tracks a beautiful view of the winning country. 2010, presented to the court in a very good state of maintenance has not lost any of its quality. He is athletic but fair. On some tracks a tactical game is required.
We liked it so well that we decided to play in a few weeks with our friends again.
