Expensive course renovation for single handicap

The aim was to make the course more challenging, and extensive changes were made, primarily through the addition of expensive water hazards. Who is this intended for? The recreational players who make up 85% of golfers (DGV average 28) or the relatively few single-digit handicappers?
The vast majority of the members (who have no say in the matter) are very unhappy about this, and if they then lose a few more balls, especially on the now even more difficult 17th, the mood for a cheerful get-together in the restaurant will be completely gone.
Wouldn't it have been better to create new, further back white tees of approximately 6050 meters on the few holes where possible, and shorten the yellow tees to a modern 5850 meters? That would have benefited everyone for little money. Even in a club where we members don't have voting rights, it would be appropriate, though not legally required, to consider the interests of the majority of members and not cater to the ambitions of the relatively few single-digit handicappers to make the course as difficult as possible.

The course is nestled in gently hilly terrain and easy to walk. The course is well-maintained, but unfortunately, we repeatedly struggled with the somewhat slow greens for a good score. 🧐 The view of the Swabian Alb is visible from practically every hole. The fairways are varied and spacious. We had a wonderful round with Gerti and Walter. They shared their excellent knowledge of the course with us. 👍🏌️♀️🏌️. The restaurant impresses with its cozy terrace and the fantastic view of the 18th hole. In summary: a truly successful day, and we'll definitely be back!😎
