A very nice course for the mid-handicapper

Congratulations to the course designer. I am fed up with courses that seem to regard enjoyment as a secondary consideration in a round of golf. This is a great course for mid-handicappers; in skiing terms - no blacks but an interesting mix of reds and blues. If you hit reasonable shots you have a good chance of making most greens in regulation. The ladies tees are generally well forward, so it is a course that both sexes can enjoy. The course is attractively laid out along the side of a shallow valley so it does not suffer from the vertiginous climbs that can make more spectacular tyrolean courses such a challenge (I was able to carry both rounds). Considering that the course had been covered in snow only 4 weeks before, I thought that it was immaculately presented. I will return!

We were guests in July during a hot period and were very impressed by the friendliness and courtesy of the employee in the secretariat... the Pro Shop was immediately in the hands of my dear wife (and our credit card)...
The course itself is great fun to play - it's not particularly long from yellow - but the first 9 are very varied and interesting - the 2nd 9 are more inviting to score - three par 5s and a very short par 4 lure you to attack.
Due to the heat, we were very happy how many drinking water stations this facility has (I think we counted 7 or 8) - just great! And then tee 9 - a table with nut croissants and other delicacies. Caught the elderly lady from the house next door bringing fresh croissants - amazing!!!
The only "strange" experience we had in the restaurant - the bar manager was visibly drunk and clearly off track when we paid our bill at 3:30 p.m... his flag was irritating to say the least.
Nevertheless - we can only recommend Bad Waltersdorf and will definitely come back.

On this said 7.8. all places in the wider area were still closed: Klöch, Livada, Loipersdorf, Gleichenberg, I called everyone. Only Waltersdorf was open. But you don't do anything good for the course or the players if you release the game with such course conditions and I stopped after 9 holes despite the full green fee, for the sake of me and the course... ...my wife and I were also guests in Bad Waltersdorf on August 7th and I find Altgolfer's posting outrageous and actually cheeky. No idea where Altgolfer lives - but I think everyone in Austria knew that Styria and Carinthia were hit by unbelievable amounts of rain/storms...
We informed ourselves beforehand and found out that Bad Waltersdorf was closed the day before - tip: website and golf. at help with this!
We probably went on the round with different expectations - yes, it was very, very wet - all greenkeepers tried to get the course back together... but the gaming experience was very ok for the incredible amounts of rain - the layout of the course is a pleasure anyway and said lady in the secretariat was polite and courteous to us. Think the saying "just as one calls into the forest..." will apply here. Where I absolutely agree with Altgolfer - the restaurant is great!

This year many golf courses are already a bit "burned" in the east of Austria. Here in Bad Waltersdorf the whole area is in very good condition. If you look for a flaw then maybe the greens, which seemed a bit bumpy. But still great to play. Priced on the cheap side. The plant is not impressive by its length. Nice reception in the secretariat. We took a cart and it was really nice. Because some holes go uphill and downhill. It seems like it has not rained much the last few weeks, the fairways were extremely hard and dry and therefore not very lush green. The greens were extremely slow compared to our home club. The greenkeepers were very helpful and extremely friendly.
At a discount there were cakes etc to buy really a very nice idea to another then again golf balls, really very fun and attentive.
For me personally (HCP 28), the place did not feel hard I really had a very good score.
On the whole a very nice round of golf for a reasonable price (reduction guests from the Hotel Falkensteiner)

The course is not long - but you have to be able to place your punches well on the first 9 holes. These are in my opinion, the nicer tracks - varied with plenty of trees. The Back nine invite you to attack - forgiving you can often draw the driver here and possibly reach a par 5 as a hobby golfer with the 2nd stroke - or at least try it. They 10-18 tracks are no longer so varied - but with the 12 and the 17 are waiting for two great bird holes AND with the 15 and 16 a small "Amen" Corner. Great are the lanes 2 and 14 around a pond which can certainly be called signature holes.
Was always very happy with the course maintenance - that the bunker can be washed away just at the thunderstorm times in nature. Faiwais and overall impression really good - greens well suited for the amateur golfer because not too fast - but in no case so hard that the "Pitsch-fork" breaks off :-)
Golf is really FUN for EVERYONE.
Food in the clubhouse perfect - good wines and casual terrace! We (Hcp 10 and 15) are guaranteed to return...
