Characteristics
The spacious holes are framed by ascending coniferous and deciduous forests.
This course is romantic, entertaining, challenging, fair, sportive, and wonderfully quiet at the same time. The predominance of the rural landscape that was developed and cultivated throughout many centuries is felt everywhere.
Thus, many large meadows between the fairways are still mowed for hay and aftermath, and the forestry around the course may only be regarded as exemplary.

Nice place in hilly terrain

The Augsburg Golf Club is a beautiful course in hilly terrain. This leads to interesting, varied and quite demanding tracks with many slopes and blind shots. You can clearly see the two construction phases of the course on the greens: Bernhard von Limburger's greens are small, strongly undulating and very well defended and are very challenging to putt at a slightly higher green speed. Unfortunately, Donald Harradine's greens can't hold a candle to them. Although larger and equipped with more pin positions, but also with significantly less movement and less interesting defense, they correspond to the usual Harradine standard. Overall, the place is very narrow and the three lanes that lead through the forest are less than 50m between the trees or penalty area or OB on the verge of claustrophobia. Carefree teeing off with the driver is rather a rarity overall. The inglorious highlight is the 12th, which has been rebuilt as a par 5 (the sixth!). It's so narrow that you only hit a middle iron and then hit the second shot, again with a middle iron. To make matters worse, an oak tree was planted in the fairway. Whatever the idea behind it, it didn't work. Angela Moser, who, as far as I know, is a member of Augsburg, should get out her "Dozer" and thin out the 12 a bit! The condition was excellent, both fairways and greens were excellent. Very fast greens would hardly be puttable anyway due to the undulations. Last tips for the round: An electric trolley is an advantage and definitely pack mosquito spray!

Top parkland course

No question of the home ground of the German golf legend (no statue, too few pictures of Langer, etc., for my taste, 2 times Master Winner and 6 times Ryder Cup player) Bernhard Langer has it all! It goes between forest and park landscape pretty uphill and downhill, with good condition no problem! The rough (second mowing edge) is uncomfortably thick and difficult to play. The condition was perfect, no more burns from last summer! Only the greens are much too long and too slow for a leading place, suppose that is always the case, because one day later a big tournament took place (mowing with a care window of 2h, wherever 9 holes are closed, everything was crowded to the 10th..., funny too)! Therefore only 4 stars! Scenic and the design of one of the best places in Bavaria!
The ladies in the secretariat and Proshop were remarkably friendly and helpful!
