After all the great reviews, we were really looking forward to playing at Mondsee for the first time. We were given a very friendly welcome when we arrived. We were told that the course was wet because it had rained, and we played in dry weather for a whopping €115 per person. However, the course was so wet that normal play was impossible, the bunkers were full of water, and the fairways were covered in puddles. Only the greens were very good.
After the round, we politely pointed out the poor condition of the course and said that demanding the full green fee in such a case was not very customer-friendly. This was rejected bluntly, as the wetness had been pointed out. It was suggested that they had been considering closing the course, so everyone was aware of the condition of the course. We were disappointed with our visit, but elsewhere people reacted more kindly.
The course thrives on its unique location, which really can't be topped. The layout didn't blow us away, but some holes like holes 9 and 14 to 18 are quite challenging and spectacular. The maintenance itself is very good. The restaurant is wonderful with a wonderful terrace.
