Geysteren

Nice course between many trees in a very quiet surrounding. The club dates from 1972. Not too difficult. The last five holes you have to survive the water. Restaurant serves good food.

2/3 parkland 1/3 open with water from the tee

Played on 8/30/2021. The flat 18-hole course (cart not required) is located a little north of Venlo approx. 30 km behind the German border, not far from the A73 motorway, in absolute tranquility and nature. Only from a distance on lanes 14 and 15 can you hear a little traffic from the next federal highway N270. The first 13 lanes run more or less through a forest with tall, ingrown trees. This is where you get that parkland feeling. Lanes 14 to 18 seem to have been created later and are much more open. This is where real water, in the form of a large lake, comes into play for the first time. The tees on the tracks 14,15,16 and 18 must then all be carried out over a water hazard. Here you have to stretch from yellow to some extent. But even on the first 13 lanes, where the tees are sometimes narrower due to the trees, you often have to make a stretch from the tee via heather carry. High HC should possibly tee up on the front tees. If you stay on the fairways, the course is not particularly difficult. There are few bunkers that need to be taken out of the game. Most of the tracks are relatively straight or have slight doglegs. Somewhat unusual, the first six lanes are all PAR 4. You are close to the clubhouse again after the 9, but actually the 13 ends directly at the clubhouse. If you want, you can end the round early even after 13 lanes. The condition was just okay. The fairways had increased growth here and there. The first green looked bad and even had holes. But then it got better and the greens on 14 to 18 were much better. Many tees were a bit worn, here the tee markings should be relocated more often. The bunkers were mostly okay, one or the other edge looked a bit wild. Many of the bunker edges were also specially planted. The game on an almost dry, sometimes even sunny Monday afternoon was manageable. As a single player, I ran into a three-way flight at 10, which let me play through immediately. Otherwise I only saw other players from a distance. Most of the members gave a friendly greeting. There are start times, which unfortunately cannot be viewed on the homepage and cannot be booked. I wrote an e-mail and received confirmation of the desired start time very quickly. The green fee is a little too high at € 70 on weekdays and on weekends, at least on weekdays. But there is a sundowner from 3 p.m. for € 50. The employee in the clubhouse was friendly. There is a caddy master with a small pro shop at the driving range or at the first tee. The caddy master was also friendly and explained the course of the course to me. The clubhouse itself looks a bit rustic and fits in with the forest square. There is a restaurant with a terrace facing the 13th green. The changing rooms and the plumbing are fine. On the driving range you can draw balls from the machine free of charge. If you don't expect the really big highlights and no noble meadow, I can recommend a round at GC Geijsteren.

Surprising heath course

The photos on the Albrecht Webside are deceiving! This place has really good heath tracks! Through dense old mixed forest lead the first 13 tracks. The lightning-fast greens and the big, deep bunkers that are all fringed with heather on the edge make the course a real heath classic!
Another pagan jewel in Holland! The tracks 4,5,6 and 7 have also been placed in the forest. The lanes 14,15,16,17,18, however, you can see the younger design! But all in all (especially from 1-13) is the place absolute top class...! Everytime worth playing!
