Not a single bad hole

There are not that many golf courses around the world without any bad hole, but Golf de Wimereux is absolutely one. On vacation in France we took the opportunity to play this hidden gem. Even if we didn't make any reservation in before we had our tee time in 40 minutes of arrival. This golf course is amazing, the wind is a part of the game, the rolling fairways ard hard, the peat bunkers are steep and the green areas are very nicely undulated. All together a really nice links course and we will be back.

Played here April 2014. Superb greens, great clubhouse. Thirty mile an hour winds but still well worth the visit.

Played on October 4,2025: The 18-hole course (par 72) with driving range is located approximately 35 km (30 minutes' drive) south of Calais, separated from the sea only by a coastal road, on the outskirts of the pleasant town of Wimereux. Many holes offer excellent views of the sea. The course could certainly be described as a links course. There are few trees and almost no real water hazards, just a few small, dry streams. However, there are some pot bunkers. The course is particularly tough in windy conditions. We played the course in gusts of up to 90 km/h (56 mph) and had a real struggle. You're exposed to the wind practically everywhere. There's relatively little rough, and the fairways are open. Most holes run straight. Interestingly, some wartime bunkers have been incorporated into the course. The white tees were even created on two of them. The greens were in perfect condition. Unfortunately, the fairways had a few bare patches. There were many places where animals had dug their holes, and one or two tee shots could have been better. Play on a sunny, but as mentioned, very windy Saturday morning was not overcrowded. We teed off around 10 a.m. in pairs and didn't arrive until the 18th. Tee times can be viewed on the website, but cannot be booked without a French membership number. However, this is possible via the GolfNow app. We paid €90 for the round, which isn't cheap, but it's reasonable. The staff in the small pro shop in the pleasant clubhouse were friendly. The clubhouse is dominated by the restaurant. We had an excellent meal there after our round. The restaurant is considered one of the best in the area. The value for money is highly recommended. Even some non-golfers dine there. If you're in the area, a round of links golf in Wimereux is highly recommended.

wimereux is a dune course with a links feel.
the first 9 holes are quite wavy, partly slightly hilly and are a pleasure to play. the fairways are not too narrow, but the bunkers and individual left-grass patches require precision.
in the second 9 holes, the course flattens out noticeably (literally) - it gets a bit monotonous towards the end.
the system is remarkably good shot, good fairways, nice deep bunkers with top sand. very good train descriptions, well-developed paths and stairs and top signage.
there is obviously a lot of effort here.
about half of the greens (good and fast) are excitingly undulating and challenging. unfortunately the other half is pretty flat and uninspired. very unfortunate.
€60 green fee is a fair price for what is offered.
19th hole: really good restaurant with a good menu; friendly service.

Today I played a fantastic and unpretentious, honest links course that really impressed me. Despite days of rain, the course was wet but very playable for January and the greens in particular were in great condition. The layout is great fun, with a strong headwind and almost 10 degrees you sometimes have to really stretch (especially with the Par3's like #6 or #10), but with a tailwind there are also good chances on the Par5's like # 1 and the #17. For me one of my favorite places with wonderful views over the beautiful dune landscape towards Ambleteuse and over the English Channel including the Rocks of Dover... and for a winter reduced green fee of € 40, - ... what more could you want...

Got the place on October 31. Played in fine weather and squalls, unfortunately only the first nine (due to darkness). A great links course in very good condition, especially the greens and pre-greens were spotless and very fast. If you want golf on this side of the English Channel on the left, this is a good alternative with a good price / performance ratio.

Nice staff, very clear, old and honest links golf! Without much frills etc.! Absolutely ok for me as a links fan! Only the mowing height on the Fsirways, around the green, didn't remind you of links, everything was much too high! And a significantly better rough maintenance and thinning would make a ball search possible, we are not talking about finding (our Hdcp. 10.1 / 7.8 / 12.2 / 19.4)!
Unfortunately, the greens were by far the slowest and weakened on the trip! Therefore only 3.5 stars!

Great layout, good condition despite dryness and a four-flight in front of us, which lets play through at the first opportunity!
