Characteristics

Founded in 1911, Golf de Rouen Mont-Saint-Aignan is a historic gem located just minutes from the city center, yet fully immersed in a lush, wooded environment. As one of France’s centenary clubs, it offers an 18-hole course defined by its technical variety and undulating terrain. The layout presents three distinct sequences: it begins on a plateau rewarding precise placement, then plunges into a demanding valley section where tricky slopes and hard-to-read greens challenge every golfer. The final stretch returns to the parkland plateau where driving distance becomes key. The course is also noted for its unique topography, partly shaped by historical events, and features a welcoming clubhouse and restaurant that reflect the club's blend of sporting tradition and conviviality.

Worth

I played the course in September 2023. It had rained well and the place was watered appropriately. The bunkers are poorly maintained, a shortcoming of many places. Some of the tracks go back and forth in parallel - so unspectacular. But - there are also some surprises. Hanging fairways, obscure flags, beautiful, varied trees - that's a joy. From hole 9 there are four beautiful and difficult holes. After that it gets boring again. Ultimately, it's not a really challenging course - but for €65, it's a wonderful three and a half hours of golf in wonderful surroundings.
