Located on the outskirts of Rennes, the Golf de la Freslonnière offers a serene golfing experience within a historic estate owned by the same family for over 800 years. Opened in 1989, the 18-hole course winds through a 60-hectare castle park defined by centennial trees and vibrant rhododendrons. While well-protected from the wind, the layout demands strategy over power, with numerous water hazards guarding the greens. After the round, golfers can relax at the traditional restaurant, enjoying the charming atmosphere of this Breton gem.

After you have passed the industrial area at the driveway, an atmosphere emerges like from another time: Historic buildings have been converted into a restaurant and pro shop. The driving range, putting green and short game facility are well-maintained and not very busy. The place is very varied, very well maintained and offers some funny water hazards. Pure nature in great surroundings.
We then stayed at the Château de la Freslonnière; a unique experience. We were personally welcomed and looked after by the castle owner. He told us that the castle had been in his family for 800 years. His mother planned and realized the golf course. If you have the time and desire for a historical ambience (not luxurious), we strongly recommend to stay overnight in the castle. We will remember this golf experience for a long time, as the whole thing was anything but ordinary.
