Sophisticated golf course with beach feeling

Played on September 8th, 2024. The flat 18-hole course with an additional 6-hole practice course is located about 20 km east of Leipzig in absolute peace and nature and can be reached quickly via the federal highway 6. The catering and reception are located in separate buildings. The changing rooms and toilets are in the catering. A nice "beach atmosphere" with palm trees and a disused cart has been set up around the terrace of the restaurant (not used). The greens of holes 16 and 18 as well as tees 15 and 17 are adjacent to the restaurant. This means that you can end your round earlier not only after 9, but also after 14 or 16 holes. The employee at the reception next to the driving range was very friendly, briefly explained the course to me and then, since I was there a little earlier than the start time booked online, let me start the round earlier. The course is varied and designed with some challenges. There are doglegs, some water hazards and well-placed bunkers. Island greens on holes 11 (PAR3) with an elevated tee and on the final 18 offer the ultimate highlight. Higher HCs should bring a few more balls and play from the front tees, even if most tees are very open. The replica of the Swilcan Bridge from the Old Course in St. Andrews directly on hole 1 is a great photo opportunity. There are enough toilets during the round and also a halfway house, which you pass three times. Something unusual were the many wild cameras set up in the fairways on fairways 1,3 and 14. The condition of the tees and greens was top notch. The greens were a bit too slow for my taste, but true. A big problem were the fairways, which were partly very dry and brown due to the dryness. Irrigation does not seem to take place here. Which brings us to the green fee. €65 on weekdays is reasonable, but €85 on weekends is at least €10 too much. On top of that, there is an incomprehensible surcharge of €10 for golfers without a hologram on their ID, which does not promote golf. Given the condition of the fairways, I would have considered a discount of at least €20 more appropriate, especially as it was not announced before my game. Unfortunately, there is no early bird, sundowner or discount with the Golfalbrecht. That would be advisable, then more green fee players might come. The game on a sunny Sunday morning at 9:00 a.m. was manageable and I did not have the impression that it got full during the day. I can recommend the course without hesitation. Unfortunately, only four stars because of the fairways and the excessive green fee.

Relaxed Golfing

Played on June 3rd, 2024. Super friendly and informative secretary at the reception. Sensational condition of the course. Super well-maintained and very playable fairway. Exact edges for fairway, first and second cut. Interesting holes with alternating water, bunkers and tree hazards. Well-maintained, true but difficult greens. Show hole 11 with island green and island green on the 18th in front of the restaurant terrace. :-) Unfortunately the restaurant was closed - we'll test it next time. Overall a super nice and relaxed round in beautiful, quiet nature.

Everyone their opinion, but...

I really don't understand how to give this place less than three stars.
After several visits between 2012 and 2014, we are here again this year with a larger tour group. Like back then, everything was great all round. Very nice service in the reception and also in the restaurant. The justified advice from the Marshall to speed up the game was also conveyed in a friendly manner.
The place was in excellent condition. The greens stay on track and the fairways, even in mid-October without any annoying flaws. We played all the courses in the area and have to say that this is by far the best.
All fellow travelers were also very impressed by the setup. Diverse and challenging. The handicaps of the players range between 6 and 35.
Keep it up for the golf club!
For those who write such disastrous reviews, please gain experience first and only then express it.
It would be a real shame if guests who read something like this refrain from experiencing this beautiful place.
