18-hole parkland across the border

Played on October 9th, 2020. The flat 18-hole course is located approx. 13 km behind the German border west of Heerlen and can be reached quickly past Aachen via the A4 / A76 / A79. The entire course, type parkland, with mostly open tees, so also suitable for higher HC, is quietly nestled between various fields. Lanes 1-13 and 14-18 are only separated by the access road. You are back at the clubhouse after 9.13 or 16 holes and whoever wants to can end the round early. Lanes 14 and 16 go along the parking lot and the driving range. At trams 16 and 17 you can see and hear the regional train going past (but it doesn't matter). Unfortunately, you can only be hit by mats on the range. Tokens for balls are available from the secretariat from € 2.50. In my opinion, the fairways do not have any extraordinary highlights, but they are nevertheless varied. There are a few water hazards, easy doglegs and well-placed bunkers. The defining element is certainly the tall, ingrown trees, mostly on the right and left along the path. The most beautiful are certainly the lanes where water comes into play, the 6 and 15 and at the end of the round, the lanes 17 and 18 around a larger pond with mighty weeping willows. The overall condition was acceptable. Due to the previous rainfall, the tracks were very wet and the ground was heavy. This is probably why many fairways had not yet been mowed. But where it was mowed it was okay. The greens, often undulating, were flawless and easy to play. One or the other tee was a bit more worn and you had to look for suitable places for your stand. The game on a Friday afternoon / afternoon was brisk. Nothing works here without start times. I wanted to play on weekdays at relatively short notice, but only got a start time a week later between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. Corresponding e-mails were answered relatively quickly. Despite the short start times, I was sent out on my own, although I had announced that I would also like to play with members or other guests (possibly due to Corona). So of course I ran into various member flights relatively quickly, but was let through 3 times immediately. As is almost always the case in Holland, the atmosphere is rather unconventional, relaxed and friendly. It is evidently also an exemplary promotion of young talent. In the practice area next to track 18, the little ones definitely had fun with the pro. The German-speaking staff in the secretariat, in the rather functional but clean clubhouse / pro shop with changing rooms and restaurant (not tested), was very friendly. The green fee of currently € 63.50 on weekdays is still appropriate in my opinion. € 73.50 on the weekend is a bit ambitious for the place. If you don't expect the big highlights and no noble meadow, but want to take a hop over the border to play golf in Holland, I can generally recommend the round in Hoenshuis without hesitation.

This place is fun

Welcome in the clubhouse very friendly. Driving range manageable, but in good condition. Short ways to the first tee. I played the first 9 Condition was good despite slightly autumnal weather. The tracks are all relatively broad, despite trees right and left, no rough, so that you can continue playing the ball well. With a long game you get through wonderfully. The par 3 are, as already mentioned elsewhere, not to be underestimated. Overall, the little round was really fun. I will gladly come again!

Parkland Golf

The € 60 were not too much demanded because the course was in this autumnal weather in order. (24/10/17) The reception and the golf shop were as always occupied with a very friendly and approaching lady and just like in the restaurant was no one to a pity on a small nice conversation. On the first 9 the work starts at the par 3 of the 5th hole. In the case of 6, one can be presented with the 2 strokes and with the third to the green. A birdie would be in here. The par 3 of the 8 is tricky because narrow and right are white posts. In the last 9, I find the par 5 of the 16 always exciting because of the tee off a good drive must be synonymous still prezise should be. Figures 17 and 18 are beautifully attached to a side water barrier. From the clubhouse with its terrace you have a nice view of these two holes.

Beautiful area!

Although this 18-hole course has now grown very beautiful, you can see him still, that he was reclaimed in some parts actually a rather unsuitable terrain (pure arable land). The space optics increases towards the end, the wonderful last 5 lanes are clearly the best on the court, as the par 3 is quite crisp 18th The layout is well thought out and varied, though not spectacular natural given, maintenance condition was fine. The clubhouse is inside and out very nice and cozy, the service there is good, the showers are very neat and clean. Green Fee at weekends a little too high. Overall, however, a recommended property.
