Located near Roermond, Golf & Country Club Herkenbosch offers a distinct woodland golf experience. The 18-hole championship course winds through a mature forest of pine trees and blooming rhododendrons, utilizing unique sand dunes known as "stuifduinen" to provide natural undulation. This sandy terrain ensures excellent drainage, allowing for dry playing conditions and summer greens even during winter months. Besides the main course, the club features an acclaimed 9-hole Par 3 course, often cited as one of the best of its kind in the Netherlands. The clubhouse restaurant completes the visit with a spacious terrace that offers a panoramic view over four different holes, perfect for post-round relaxation.

A place between pines, rhododendrons and heather. No special challenges, also few water hazards. A well-kept course with wavy greens with a lot of breaks, but faithful and fair. You should use the nice clubhouse. Lane 11 is a particularly pretty par 3.

Herkenbosch is really a dream place in May, which welcomes you with rhododendrons in many places on the square.

The greens were very well maintained and fast. You don't get that in many places of this quality.

Of course, when making an assessment, you have to take into account the current weather conditions, which make it difficult to irrigate a slightly hilly site.
But what is not possible are the greens. What you find there at the moment has nothing to do with normal greens. The tees in our home club are better maintained than the greens in Herkenbosch.
A reasonably reasonable putting is simply impossible there.
The ball simply hops somewhere uncontrolled.
That takes away more than half the joy of playing.
It was particularly annoying that we were not informed of this at check-in. And that for a green fee of 75 euros.
Strongly advise against playing the course in the next few weeks.
Because it takes many weeks for the greens to recover, if at all.
Service in the gastro was very friendly but a bit overwhelmed which led to longer waiting times for orders.
