Alpine course at top level

Not only the view is amazing but the greens are in great condition specialy from the beginning of July, many courses could be jealous. Friendly staff. I recommend to use a buggy from the 10th hole for non sportsman. It's a course to play few times to discover it's strategic variety.

Alpine Golf

This course is part of the skiing resort of Villars in the winter. Never will you see a golf course with more vertical gain. It is certainly the only course I have seen where staff actively suggest an electric buggy to everybody who plays.

The course is in perfect condition but it is very challenging. Apart from the physical effort required to get around it, there are some tricky holes, in particular the 10th where you need to drive over about 100 yards of deep rough to reach a fairway that dips below the horizon.

The views, the smell of wild mint and fennel that waft over you in hot summer evenings, the constantly changing relief, all of these things make this course worth doing even without golf.

Something completely different

I don't think you should simply compare a mountain golf course to one in the flat country. Anyone who complains that there is too much going up and down shouldn't even drive up a mountain to play golf there. However, I can't give 5 stars, because the Back9 fall significantly.

First of all, I would like to say positively that we were able to book our start time not only online but also by email without any problems. We were welcomed in 3 languages and in a very relaxed way. The pricing is good because there are opportunities to play on Mondays as well as in the late afternoon for affordable fees.
The practice area takes a little getting used to, but I would only add that to the rating if we played here more often.

The Front9 seemed very natural to me and were interesting, varied and just something different. The Back9, on the other hand, are very unique. You get the feeling that nine lanes have been wrested from the mountain where none actually fit. The fairways are often at right angles to the slope and are correspondingly narrow, and the fun stops as soon as you leave the horizontal line or fail to hit it. Also, it's a lot of ups and downs. Our sports watch recorded 460 vertical meters up and down. That's mountain hiking with golf shots in between. We also needed 1 h 35 m for the Front9 fleet (it was still going well then), for the Back9 then 2 h 25 m. That's where the fun pretty much stopped at the end.

I didn't rate the condition negatively, which wasn't really good in this heat and drought summer. But you really can't blame the club for that at the moment.

Nice but difficult place - RENT CART!

The square above Villars impresses with its great location and the wonderful panorama in the Vaud Alps.
The course layout is very varied: Interesting holes 1-9, very challenging holes 10-18. The distances from the green to the next tea are simply too long on the back nine!
So here is a tip for all golfers: rent a golf cart!

Overall, the course is not easy to play because many holes require a very precise game. In addition, you are faced with slopes at practically every hole, which makes the course very difficult to master. A small consolation: every round of golf at Villars Golf Club is enhanced by the sensational panorama and extremely friendly staff at the reception, in the pro shop and in the restaurant.

Mountain Goat

The first 9 are ok and playable. The second 9 are just for mountain runners. Extremely hilly, hardly a hole / fairways visible. Almost only with Cart. Very nice and quiet, but who wants to play golf is better off somewhere else. On top of that came with us that before us a tournament with many bad and older players (played as "foursome") took place. The ladies and gentlemen managed to enjoy the rather short space for 6 hours. The ranger came, but nothing happened. I do not have to have it again.

Bewergwanderung with brilliant golf course

Vorneweg; after 18 holes of the golf bag and wearing one is really exhausted.
For this you will be rewarded with a height for extremely good standard of the square and a few players.
It was also possible to take the dog on a leash!
The views are breathtaking and directing almost from the game :-)
The second 9 holes are more extreme of the differences in height but who loves high-lying tees gets his money.
With good physical condition is a must, otherwise rent a golf cart :-)

Very large differences in altitude!

Even with Buggy exhausting because haircuts and Greens often can not be approached. Many slopes. Not for lowland players. However, well maintained and good, fair greens. And always a dream panorama to Mont Blanc.
Poorly managed Club Restaurant with long waits and inflated prices.

Golfing for mountaineers

Unfortunately, this place is so hilly that one is almost forced to take a buggy. The differences in height are not suitable for a golf course. Landscape top, flopp place...
