Characteristics

The course is embedded in the attractive pre-Alpine landscape of the Ruhpolding Valley in immediate vicinity to the town. In April 2006 the expansion to 18 holes was set into motion with the turning of the first spadeful of earth. The 18-hole course will open up and welcome its first guests in early summer of the year 2007. Until then the already existing 9-hole course is playable without restrictions.

Not that special

Ruhpolding wants you to believe it's a great course, but that's not all true. The surroundings are superb, the course is not that special.
A lot of the same, fairways close to eachother and sometimes difficult routing. It's golf in the Alps, but the course is mostly flat. Also not a very hard course.
Practice facilities are ok, clubhouse nice. Overall too highly priced for what is offered, but nice to play once.

It couldn't be wider

A somewhat monotonous course, with super-wide fairways where you can't lose a ball. The condition is okay, as is the green speed.

Golfing in the club of world champions and Olympic winners

Despite the heavy rain of the last few days, we were able to use our booked tee time and play on this beautiful course.
We have played a few courses so far, but this one in Ruhpolding is pretty much at the top. Of course there were places here and there that were still very wet, but the course was in top condition. The layout and mountain backdrop are really impressive. A highlight is the tee on the 13th. It goes uphill, but at the top you are rewarded with a fantastic view. If you can get your drive right now, it can hardly get any better. The fairways are all very fair, some short, some long, there are really great bunkers, and these are always exactly where you don't need them. We had a really nice day on the course and will definitely come back.
You have to praise the entire staff, they are always friendly and helpful. Even though the greens were being aerated that day, we were still able to play our round.
We didn't use the practice area, but anyone who calls this their home club... wow!!!
What we missed, however, were the signs on the tee boxes. The digital birdie book is great, but then you always have to have your mobile phone at hand.
Thank you for this beautiful day. Until next time.
