Very much worth the trip.

Menaggio golf course was an absolute delight. The greens and fairways are in top class condition. Worth noting that the people could not have been more freindly or more helpful to us. The facilities that back up the golf course are also first class, we enjoyed a top notch lunch in the very nice club house.

Obviously the views from the course are truly magnificent, the surrounding mountains and the lake make for doubly delightful backdrops.

The golf course itself is a good challenge for everyone playing it. I hit 86 playing off a handicap index of 13.6 (15 on course if i recall correctly) and for my first time going round the place i was happy with that. My favourite hole was 9. You had better be straight or you’re in trouble as it is tree lined and rises uphill quite sharply, on this occasion it wasn’t particularly kind to me (7).

In summary, loved the course, breathtaking views, great people and great facilities. Will defo recommend to everyone.

Great course with mountain feeling and view on the lake como

I played this course mid of May 2011. It was in perfect condition, very hilly, so even for a trained person a buggy might be a good choice. The holes are interesting to play and provide great views on the Dolomiti and the Lake Como. Old barns and some ruins with roses in front give a special atmosphere.

The Club House is a beautiful old building, the golf libary is very interesting, the service is perfect.

This course is a "must play" in the area of Como!

Alpenplatz

Very hilly course that needs to be played with care and precision. Baggy is advisable, but also possible on foot. Greens in very poor condition. We don't know whether wild boars are causing mischief there or whether drought is the cause of the many bare spots. Very fine restaurant in a stylish, old building.
Very steep and narrow access, impossible for motorhomes >8m. At 8m it's already borderline. However, a quiet place to stay overnight.

Excellent facility

The Menaggio Golf Club is gently nestled in a hilly landscape in the hinterland of the upper Lake Como. The course is a challenge and the choice of clubs on some holes should be carefully considered. Fairways and greens were in very good condition despite being wet. The staff is very attentive and service-oriented. Nevertheless, you have the feeling of being a guest on a private golf course. In addition to the golf course, a very good restaurant with large panoramic windows and great views of the magical lake should be highlighted. With the good soul of the Roberta house, the facility is in the best of hands. It is a pleasure to see how friendly and hospitable she receives guests.
We'll definitely come back.

Could be perfect

We (HCP 8 and 10) played on April 1st, 2023. The DR is very narrow and only playable with mats. The discounts were often without grass and more sandy, but the greens were good. The quality of the fairways and semi-roughs was needy. There are some bunkers and a water hazard on hole 17. We played with hand trolleys, which is manageable. The back nine are a bit hilly. Anyone who likes slopes or wants to practice will get their money's worth. The showers only gave cold water. Price performance (green fee 100 euros on Saturday) did not suit us.

Care condition miserable

We were last on this golf course four years ago. Unrecognizable!!! Wild boar had even left tracks on the greens... nothing was repaired! We didn't see a single greenkeeper either. So the "golf game" is no fun... Too bad!

... the second oldest...

... golf club and golf course in Italy, still great to play, even if the physical exertion is considerable - very hilly terrain, partly mountainous. The playful skills are also required.

The course does not forgive mistakes, narrow fairways determined by the terrain, trees that provide tactics - even in the middle of the fairway - as well as height differences - sometimes several holes downhill, then several holes uphill, on the first as well as on the second nine. The mostly small greens are also often well defended.

As it should be for such courses, the course maintenance is sometimes very rustic, especially tees and fairways. The greens are very good.

The English founded this club together with local textile manufacturers.
Initially, you played on nine holes, which were expanded to 18 holes after a decade.
John Henry Taylor - The Open Winner - built and expanded this course. He is the most successful at The Open, has won it five times and was runner-up six times.
John Harris completely revised it in the 1960s.

You can literally breathe the history on this campo and in the clubhouse - always great. Great old club house with a wonderful library. Walk along the showcases and study the titles of the books... fantastic, while the great ones from the early days look down at the visitors from the walls.

Five stars would be fine for history - three for the Campo itself - there are four of us.

Just before the big rain, we were able to play a round here. It was great fun!!!

No insight

Got ripped off on Sunday. Have paid € 95 instead of € 90.
We were also not informed that half of the fairways were devastated by wild boars.
When we complained we were told we would be the first to complain.
It couldn't be more unfriendly.
Never again, sorry.

Great day, but too expensive

The place is terrific. The condition does not fit the increased green fee price of 85, - during the week. Cart 50, - It seems the club needs money for restorations. Too bad

110 years and not a bit tired

Was yesterday with a friend for the first time at Menaggio Golf. What a place!!
Very friendly staff. With 70 € also more than correct as regards the prices. Strange are the prices in the restaurant. Before the round 2 coffee and in Cornetto 11 €, after the round 2 "glass" Cola (as no bottles or rifles!) 7 €?!
Well... a generally grandiose day For those who are not so good on foot, I recommend a buggy. Go mountain up and down.

Style and history

We have been coming to this area for several years. It is always a highlight for me to play this place. This is pure golf history! The place is demanding, because very hilly. Games therefore usually only 9-hole, but more often and I save the cart (50, - € - quite steeply). The layout is very nice, but fair, always great views on Lake Como - stunning views! Friendly staff excellent restauranr at acceptable prices, come gladly - always again...

Terrific!

After 5h arrival we played as a 3er flight on the 12th of June at 16: 50h.
Right from the start, the location and the welcome of the very friendly team of the club, we went to the round. We were enchanted by the evening mood, the views and the whole place with all Drumherum.
A truly wonderful place, nestled in the countryside of the hills around Lake Como.
All difficulty levels are given, not a single simple hole, great fairways and greens, Rough fair but difficult to play, best care and every hole a challenge.
We were thrilled and will be coming back soon.

Just really nice and golf should be like

Because of the reviews I was curious and was not disappointed.
Ambiente Clubhouse and space = a dream! Place = 1A state. Staff very nice and accommodating.

The game: it goes merrily up and down hills. Fitness is called.
Further Due to the partly very narrow tracks, a very precise game, mistakes are difficult to correct. Putten I found Anspuchsvoll and the challenge to the very fast greens made just fun.

We will come back and bring a lot more time, because it is worthwhile here to indulge his passion.

Great!

We loved the place - it is not easy, which are sometimes very schmall fairways, the tee should fit. The Driver can pull out two / three times anyway.
The place is fun, it is wonderfully integrated into the landscape - it is beautifully situated on a plateau above a residential area... well of course came first

Unique!

The place is beautifully nestled in a hill, surrounded by forests and small valleys. The club house was built in 1903 (second oldest course in Italy), founded by A. Wyatt, an Englishman (style and class you have just already, the Friends of the island ..).
E-Trolley is recommended, with the cart, it is rather laborious, since the path may not be left. Fairways and greens are well maintained, the paths sometimes a bit close to each other. In particular, on the 17 should the flight before leaving enough time... Fore-calls are not prohibited (!).

All in all at exciting expirience - we are coming back!

Not bad!

Guests arriving from Lake Como can not imagine a golf course here first. The driveway is very steep and curvy. The reception quite friendly and the sun and heat a cart is recommended yet. Leave the driver in the bag and stay beautiful on the fairways.

Recommendable Place

Based on the previous reviews we had imagined the reception worse, this was ok, but not super friendly. We did not receive a discount of 20%, but 10 €, but have not even discussed.
The course plays very well without car if one is reasonably easy walking distance. The fairways are quite narrow, but the place is still to play fair.
The hoped-for views of Lake Como were sadly wrong, but the mountain scenery has compensated us.

Beautiful old place

A very nice, mitlerweilen 105 years old place. Very narrow FARWAYS with mature trees. Made it really fun to play, but you should take enough balls on the round

Schoen but VERY expensive and unfriendly

With the new Club, the club has lost its charm and tremendous quality. The staff is very rude and one no longer has to be the feeling welcome. The club is way too expensive for, what he offers! Even the entrance to the rustic range costs more than most recently € 10 (if you only want to train). The club makes Ideally would like to precious. I was nauseous insulted because I have dared to dress as the golf shoes in the parking lot, as I have always done since 15 years in this club. I will not play this course under these circumstances, even though I live only 5 minutes away.

Sensational Golf Course

This place you should not miss when you're in Lombardy or in Ticino. It has almost all fairways fantastic views of the Swiss Alps and Lake Como. Moreover, the place is extremely varied, but also difficult, despite its relatively short fairways. However, these are extremely narrow, so that precise game is required. The condition was very good end of August.

The course is suitable for players of all handicaps. It is advisable to place to play with cart, since it is constantly going uphill or downhill. Unfortunately, the price of 50 € is very high.

Beautiful

A true joy and true challenge of this place in the mountains above Lake Como dar. Spectacular views and challenging, good, well-groomed fairways that require a very precise game due to the tight architecture.
For us, the most beautiful place during our golf vacation in northern Italy (10 places)!
The reception is very friendly, the club house is a museum piece.
Of particular note is still outstanding and fine cuisine with the best service.

Fantastic

We visited the place end of June 2011 and played 9 holes. The course is hilly, a golf cart is highly recommended. All holes were in good, very good clean condition. The place is abwechlungsreich, exciting and interesting to play, and the ancient trees and the landscape are a real treat for the eyes! If you are near Como, must-have played this venerable place.
The club house is worth a check: all very stylish, very old and beautiful (1907!). Good, courteous service. It is set back 100 years, but it can really enjoy, since everything is very well maintained. Super!

A difficult but charm bernter Golf Course

The place is very old and with a very special flair. Each hole is exciting because there are often blind holes. It will not be bored, because you will be surprised at each hole with a new challenge. There is simply enchanted many small cottage covered with roses. However, the place is very stressful it is much mountain to mountain and from. Since one needs to have stamina. There is no toilet on 18 holes. I almost forgot, there are often fantastic views of the sea or in the countryside, also from the clubhouse you can see the lake. The service is very good and you can be very nice indoor and outdoor seating. The Fairwys are unfortunately a bit scruffy, hard spots and weeds. I would play this course again and again because it is just fantastic and exciting.
