Characteristics
The Golf Club Hainburg is indeed situated in immediate proximity of Vienna, but offers because of its location in the Danubian water meadows complete quietude and seclusion. The courses were very inconspicuously integrated in the natural landscape of the area and offer both open plains and mixed woodland and bush zones. At tee 7 the golfer has a dreamlike view over the Danube vallesy and the Marchfeld.

With strong winds and no knowledge of the course, golfing on this HCP-rated course was difficult. After much guesswork, we found the green on hole 3.
Although there are exciting fairways, there are also some absurd ones. So on tee 7 you think you're facing an extremely steep curve, that's how slanted the fairway is.
The very hilly course requires good fitness and good tactical play; knowledge of the course is required.
I really liked hole 2, a par 3, hole 5, a par 5 that is actually short, but which climbs steeply to a stepped green that is well protected by bunkers. The final hole, a par 3, is also nice.
Fairways are okay, bunkers can be played properly, the very fast greens are great, an exclamation mark of this course.

I can't quite share the sometimes euphoric comments from my pre-posters. We (HCP 16,29 and 45) played Hainburg for the first time yesterday and left the pitch with a very unanimous opinion: pretty nice, but not stunning. On the positive side: The layout of the square is quite interesting, the tracks are partly terraced, sometimes quite narrow and not visible, which increases the tension. Some holes are quite spectacular. Perfect greens! And also positive: Hole 19: Although only a very small offer, what is offered is excellent. The less pleasant impressions: A young man in the office who was quite musty, but okay. We were advised that it was flooding and that changes had to be made to the first 3 holes, everything is okay, nobody can do anything about it. The layout shows that a lot of holes, especially PAR 4's, are very short (e.g. the 2, the 8, the 10 and the 15). Not in order: some of the tea boxes are not maintained at all. Also in need of improvement: the fairways, some of which have the character of a field. Especially in such a damp summer, we cannot understand why there were so many bald spots and burnt grass. The bunkers were as hard as a board, hardly any free sand. The driving range, which is not signposted, and the practice balls, which were so lousy that we have hardly seen anywhere else, are not pleasant.
All in all, however, not an unpleasant day of golf, because the weather was great and the course is beautiful.

Our place lies in the influence of the pannoic climate. That means that we unfortunately have much less rain than other golf courses. The constant wind causes the soil to dry up much faster and our site is designated as a dry grassland area. Our fairways may be drier and harder to play in midsummer, but they still have no arable character. Most players appreciate the dry soil, as it gives them a lot of space.
Despite COVID-19 and the associated short-time work of our employees, we try to keep the maintenance of the site at the usual good level. We apologize for the inconvenience if this does not always work.
We are pleased that our gastronomic offer, the service and the quality were very well received.
Nevertheless, we would be pleased to welcome you again as guests of the GC Hainburg. Maybe in autumn when the leaves of the trees on Braunsberg and in the Danube floodplains shine in all colors?
