Galway Golf Club has long been recognised as one of the finest courses in the country. This excellent parkland course is centrally located in Salthill, just three miles from Galway City Centre.It has a magnificent new clubhouse which boasts panoramic views of Galway Bay and the Burren from its elevated site. The Club has a proud and distinguished history dating back to its inception in 1895. During this period, the club has collected many honours and it's members have represented the Club at the highest levels.

It's certainly an old course, but I was rather disappointed by the trees. The four oceanfront holes are good, but not typically links, more seaside. We were expecting a bit more...

I have played the course many times in the past 30 years. Due to family ties to Connemara, I have always regarded Ireland as my second home. Unfortunately that has changed, I can not understand why I, with a German golf pass, paid € 110 for the round and my teammate with an Irish golf pass € 50. I do not support this type of discrimination and can no longer recommend the golf club.

The club was founded in 1895. The first 4 holes played in 100 to 200 m distance with direct views of Galway Bay. After that in very beautiful "Parkland" layout.
