Don Shula is a former American football player and star coach. He twice won the Super Bowl as a player with the Miami Dolphins. He also holds the coaching record today with 375 victories.
This resort was built by him. He runs a whole steakhouse chain from the east to the west along with his son - also a former NFL player. Famous are its 120OZ Filet Mignon, 160OZ NY Strip or the 240OZ Porterhouse.
For the first time in 2006 we stayed here and played. A super deal and the prospect of these steaks were crucial. A great cigar lounge with a super assortment a few minutes walk from here - west of the Palmetto Expy in a small mall - was also a reason.
This 18-hole-place older date (1962) - you can see and feel this - has two faces. It was built by Kipp Schultes. Twice in 1998 and 2016 he received an UP Date from Bill Watts.
The first nine without water, comparatively simple layout and easy and ring to play with an island green. The second nine typically Florida-style with lots of water flanking and frontal. We (2 players) have played this course in January 17 for $ 80 (Golfnow) incl. Cart. The first 9 holes are playing well, wide fairways and fast greens well.
The second 9 holes have it in them. Except at the 10 and the 17 is on each hole water in the game. One should just as well play tactically, otherwise prefer to take plenty of balls.
The Golf Club is one of the best I've played in Miami.
