Fantastic Course, Friendly people

My husband and I have played this course 6 times now. Last year we played the new 3 holes, which have made it a full 18, for the first time. Although these holes had only just opened they were in lovely condition and real care and attention had been taken with the buidling of the tees etc.

The condition was good (even though we played it in October)

We are going to be playing it again in June this year and looking forward to it very much.

There is nothing nicer than walking down a fairway with the sea to your left and mountains to your right and hearing cow bells in the distance, absolute bliss

Relaxed atmosphere

We may not have played there in the best weather a few days ago, so we couldn't fully appreciate the location and view. Green fees were discounted at €30 per person per round on a Sunday. That alone makes it a very good value for money.

The layout is quite interesting, even if they seem to have run out of space on the back nine. Many fairways run diagonally across the slope, some are a bit narrow, and there are eight par 4s, mostly on the shorter side, but definitely challenging.

Despite the almost insurmountable language barrier, the lady in the office was very friendly and helpful. So why only 3 stars? It's mainly due to the state of the course. The greens had obviously been aerated not too long ago. We're familiar with that from home. But I've rarely seen such unpredictable greens. And even through the aeration, it was clear that the greens were far from being in very good condition again anytime soon. The tee boxes were also in very poor shape. It was often difficult to find a level stance and tee the ball properly in the uneven grass. Distinguishing between the fairway, first cut, and rough was also difficult. Often, everything blended together rather indistinctly.

Plenty of potential. But as uncomplicated as everything seems here, the course is far from being a top-class venue. At least that was our impression after playing just once that day. However, those who can live with a few shortcomings will be able to enjoy a nice round here for a reasonable price.

A pleasant surprise

What a pleasant surprise: A golf course that doesn't need to shy away from comparison with the one in Llanes—quite the opposite. It enjoys a similar setting on a magnificent plateau, with the Picos de Europa to the south and a view of the sea as far as Ribadesella and Llastres to the north. The course is rougher than the one in Llanes. "Agreste," as the Spanish say, in the best sense of the word. It's in absolutely perfect condition.

The fairways are wide, which is why I (HC 22) hardly lost any balls. The grass doesn't look like English grass, but it's pleasant to walk on and plays well now, in September 2025. The roughs are low, making it easy to find your balls, but punishing a bad shot severely. There's a constant threat of a ravine, a slope, or rocks. You're always on a slope. The greens are difficult to read, always elevated, and demand a perfect shot. The fairway design is occasionally pleasantly different.

Surprisingly, this course is quite relaxing, despite being hilly. It's a plateau, as the name suggests. However, the last four holes, all par 4s, are a real challenge for the body. I played the course in pleasant 24 degrees Celsius. It might be different in blazing sunshine!

The restaurant is quite acceptable. I highly recommend the rice pudding for dessert. The location is breathtaking, the people are very friendly, and all the facilities are as expected. The course is worth every euro of the green fee. Incidentally, it's privately owned and not part of the municipality.
