Characteristics
The beautifully located Bürgenstock Alpine Golf has a remarkable history. From 1928, the former owner of the Bürgenstock Resort, Fritz Frey, created step by step an unparalleled course that blended beautifully into the landscape. Over the decades, famous personalities such as Sir Sean Connery, Audrey Hepburn, Sophia Loren and many other celebrities have played a round of golf here.
The golf course is nestled in the middle of a wooded hillside landscape and is characterised by rugged rock formations that have been sculpted by the wind over the centuries. It is said, not without reason, that this is one of the most beautiful pre-Alpine mountain courses in Switzerland. The backdrop of the surrounding Central Swiss mountain landscape and the nearby idyllic surroundings of the Bürgenberg guarantee a unique experience, for both golfers and hikers.
The golf course is part of the Bürgenstock Hotels & Resort Lake Lucerne and offers exceptional facilities as well as exciting tournaments and events from April to October. The Bürgenstock Golf Club offers a full range of services, including a golf shop, golf academy services, its own driving range with alpine scenery, club service and trolley rental.

A tricky course that steals your balls

This 9-hole course is located along an alpine slope: most fairways are sloped. Not easy to play! The course architect has produced an exciting course on the limited size of land. The fairways are close together.
You must hit your tee shots straight. Otherwise you will quckly loose your balls in the woods or in the high grass.
The course was in excellent condition in 8-2012.
The restaurant closes early in the afternoon so you will have to deposit your dues in an envelope at the little old clubhouse. Quite romantic!
No electric golf cars allowed so you will have to use a chariot or carry your clubs.
A tip: 2 min away is the spectacular Hotel Villa Honegg with its unique views. Stay there. It is pricey but worth it. We had the stay of a lifetime.
We will certainly return to the combination Hotel Villa Honegg & Golf Bürgenstock.

Very well maintained 9-hole course with a fantastic view and an idyllic clubhouse. Club office was absolutely friendly and competent. The Italian chef spoiled us with delicious dishes on the terrace. We'd love to come back!

Yesterday we played the course again for the first time in 10 years.
Fortunately, the intersecting fairways are no longer there, but you still have to watch out for ricochets. Straight play is required. The lanes were in passable condition, the greens were slow and not faithful.
It's going up and down a lot, but the course is quite short.
The greeting in the secretariat was not characterized by great courtesy, the members probably preferred to keep to themselves. Then you shouldn't allow any guest players, that would be fair.
